Ceuta is a very interesting place, and also somewhere I had never heard of before, so join me on a journey of discovery, which also happens to be a ferry review with a look at the difference between travelling Standard Class and Premium. Thankfully there wasn’t much difference in price as the layout was almost identical, with one big difference that means I’d ALWAYS choose Premium in future. Enjoy the video!
Itinerary details
Outbound Wed 5th October 2022, 14:30/15:30, Standard, €34.90
Return Thu 6th October 2022, 13:00/14:00, Premium, €46.90
(I did hear someone enquire about upgrade to Premium whilst onboard, and I believe they were quoted €25 to do so! Therefore, well worth booking in advance!)
For a one hour ferry, I don’t think this is cheap, but the difference between Standard and Premium is minimal.
I stayed at Hostal Central in Ceuta (booking.com £30). Bear in mind, there is a difference between a ‘hostel’ and a ‘hostal’ in Spain – Hostales tend to be much more like a budget hotel, and suitable for a guy of my age as well!

Hi, I’m Steve, a travel reviewer from Scotland. Join me on my adventures as I discover my own country, often visiting places for the first time, so hopefully it’s as much of an eye-opener for you as it is for me! Don’t expect expert opinion, just a very honest journey of discovery. Sometimes featuring my intrepid sidekick Alicja, sometimes featuring adventures beyond the borders of Scotland. Enjoy!

Great video and now having seen will have to do it , many years ago I made the trip from Malaga to Melilla and would highly recommend , that was in my interailing days traveling mostly alone I now live in Malaga so will revisit and Cueta on the cards for sure.
Superb, the things u do for us
Typical Scotsman moaning when it's warm. My mate from Shettlestone is just the same. 🌞🤣
You certainly seem comfortable with Spanish in this and other videos. Any story there?
I really enjoyed this video Steve. Thanks.
The Portuguese feeling reason is pretty simple, it was a Portuguese colony long before becoming Spanish.
It amazes me the amount of English language signage and announcements in foreign countries. Impressed with your Spanish too.
Great video. Ceuta looks a lot like Funchal, Madeira.
Another tremendous video. Always appreciate you sharing different parts of the world with us.
…lovely trip, Steve, and I could almost feel the moist heat… Ceuta looks great and indeed has a Portuguese (ex-colonial) flair, and also could be an exciting starting point to go further towards Tetouan and into the Atlas mountains… I haven't set a foot on the African continent yet, but been to some of the Las Canarias, which do have an African feel to them… thanks so much for this – I feel like being back from a short holidays now… 🙂
Your vids are getting so much better, thank you for the great and interesting post
Another amazing adventure Steve, these locations are fantastic… thanks so very much for your efforts.
Blown away by the lack of crowds. My type of place. Thanks Steve!
Great vid Steve! All practically on our doorstep! Was the ferry expensive?
Think I might recreate your journey and lose myself there for e few days when I retire next year!👍great job once again!👏👏👏😊
Fascinating trip Steve, nice one!!
This place is on my to do list and I pleased how easy it looks to travel from Gibraltar. I am currently reading a lot of history books and Spanish History is no exception.
Agree that to be on a ferry you need to be outside for the best views. Just did the Arran ferry with lots of outdoor seats and with coffee and sandwich! Wow Arran and back £8.30 compared to your single sail €34 ouch!
Love that you provide a time for people to jump ahead to if they just want ferry content, but I watched the whole thing. Nice little excursion video!
Excellent as ever, Steve!
Excellent video Steve I`m always so much wiser after looking at your channel…..Thank you !
This is a great episode, Steve, I enjoyed the tour of Ceuta and the hostel looked like real value. Thanks. 👏👏
Your comment "Is it hotter in Africa than Europe" made me think of a film scene! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ls5Gj0reUJw Glad that unlike the Furian you at least survived. Brilliant video Steve. 👌👍
Really enjoyable vid – I'd no idea that Ceuta was so beautiful. Oh, and as a Scot, what a treat to see a working ferry!
Did you need to use your passport.
Great video.
So ashamed, my friend.
11 €, a little sandwich and a Cocacola!!
(Of course, that's not the usual case)
Thank you for your report.
Seeing the appearance of Ceuta, does anyone honestly think that it is or looks like a Moroccan city?
Another little place for my own travel list
