One of the most popular destinations for a day trip from Tokyo, Hakone is a hot springs town full of beautiful views and tasty treats. Shizuka travels up mountains, over lakes, and through the shrines of Hakone to visit places offering unique Hakone food, like coal black onsen eggs and “power” mochi.

Shizuka begins her adventure by exploring an active volcano, and trying the black onsen tamago, or hot springs eggs, that the area is famous for. Then, she travels across the lake on a pirate ship, and reenacts some of her favorite boat-related movie scenes. After her Oscar-worthy performance, she enjoys a Japanese hot pot and grated mountain yam. Finally, she explores Hakone shrine and ends up at a cha-ya (tea shop) that’s stood the test of time.

  1. I spent my birthday in Hakone last month during my vacation and it was a great experience. You definately had better weather because when we were on the ropeway up to Owakudani, there was a solid wall of fog that you couldn't see through. Owakudani was also covered in fog but it lifted several times for a few minutes so people could take pics.

  2. I'm so happy you guys are now uploading in 4k. The viewing experience is so much more enhanced and your videos are shot beautifully, which can now be appreciated in all its UHD glory 🤗

  3. i can’t start my week without watching a new video from Japan any by Food

    PS I love Shizuka 😍

  4. I see a common theme in the foods eaten is the egg. From the hot spring egg, to the black egg, and the egg with the tororo yam. Delish all around.

  5. Shizuka sweet as usual. And your video quality is superb! Best quality I have ever seen on YouTube!

  6. The whole cable car-volcano-pirate ship circuit is touristy as heck, but you kind of have to do it, and the views are incredible on a clear day. Don't miss the open air sculpture museum, it's fantastic! I wanted to try the black eggs but I was by myself and they only sell them in a 5 pack. What am I supposed to do, just down 5 hard boiled eggs?

  7. It's pretty awesome that Hakone is only about an hour and a half from downtown Tokyo via train.

  8. I have never been to Hakone but the view and food looks amazing! I'll definitely put it on my bucket list. Thank you Shizuka san!

  9. Wonderful travel video of Hakone! Loved it! Putting this on my list of places to visit on my return trip back to Japan. Mahalo Shizuka for bringing us here! 😀

  10. Very funny episode it's almost like Japan by Food meets One Piece! Shizuka is the acting Capitan because Luffy ate too many black eggs and has tummy aches… Anyway fantasies aside I really would like to taste the amazake it looks delicious and it's around for already 400 years, maybe I am missing something… Thank you for activating my creative flow 😄😁😉😉😆🦜⚔☠🏴‍☠
