Tori-no-ichi is a traditional annual event in November held on the day of the rooster in Chinese zodiac calendar.

there are 12 animal signs used as symbols for each day so the day of rooster comes every 12 days, twice or three times a month.

‘Tori’ is a bird in Japanese and this particular case it’s a rooster or an eagle and ‘ichi’ is a market.

So the market is held at several shrines represent an eagle or a rooster.

A speciality of this market is ‘bamboo rake charm’.

Those decorated bamboo rake charms are believed to bring happiness and prosperity in business. Because of its shape of a paw, people believe it ‘grabs luck in your business’.
