Selva di Gardena (aka Wolkenstein in Gröden in German) sits up the valley from our home base in Ortisei in the Val Gardena. Geared towards hiking in the summer and skiing in the fall, we start our walking tour at the top and make our way downhill through town and along a trail on the far side. We get to explore the town and get amazing views of the peaks of Sasso Lungo and the various ski runs and a bit of fall color. I loved exploring these little towns of the Dolomites. They each have such wonderful charm and personality and despite lying within easy walk of each other, seem so remote and quietly cozy. I hope you enjoy this tour as you walk at home on your treadmill workout. Please let me know your thoughts, corrections, and memories of your own visits in the description below. And, as always, keep on steppin’ -H

According to the Mayo Clinic, a daily brisk walking routine can help you maintain a healthy weight and lose body fat, reduce stress and tension, improve your mood, and consequently live longer. And it doesn’t have to be hard. You can work your way up to longer and faster walks, alternate walking speeds. Just push yourself a little bit every day and you can see benefits. It’s a simple fat burning cardio exercise and workout.
Apparently, every 2000 steps walked reudces the risk of early death by 8-11%.
Wikipedia:
Selva di Val Gardenais a comune (municipality) in the Val Gardena in South Tyrol, northern Italy, located about 30 kilometres (19 mi) east of the city of Bolzano. The Ladin place name derives from the Latin word silva (“wood”).

From the Val Gardena Tourism site:
Placed directly below the Sella massif, the plateau-shaped mountain which appears as though it’s carrying the weight of the heavens on its shoulders, lies the picturesque village of Selva Val Gardena. Opposites create a true harmony in Selva Val Gardena which attracts countless visitors to Dolomites Val Gardena every year: modernity meets a bucolic setting, sport goes hand-in-hand with recovery, the perfect infrastructure alternates with leisurely and isolated meadows and paths. Dive into a world that will sweep you under its spell within a couple of seconds.

The perfect location surrounded by breathtaking nature
Selva Val Gardena is located at the heart of a beautiful natural landscape, a picturesque valley surrounded by the Dolomite mountain ranges which have been declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Part of the Puez Group, the Cir summits, and even parts of the legendary Sella and Sassolungo Group surround Dolomites Val Gardena.

Due to its picturesque location at the heart of the Dolomites, Selva Val Gardena is a favourite holiday destination for active holiday–goers. Tourism is one of the main industries in Selva. Countless hotels, guesthouses, restaurants and ski schools pepper the location. As one of the access points to the Sellaronda, during the winter season Selva Val Gardena is also visited by tourists wanting to complete the Sella circuit on their skis.

Across the schools of not only Selva Val Gardena but also the valley’s other two municipalities, children are taught Ladin. Together with Italian and German, it makes up the Dolomites Val Gardena’s official languages.

My Story: I’m a filmmaker by trade. In 2016, we sold our house to go traveling for the year in Europe. Since I couldn’t work there, I decided to start another Youtube Channel. I love walking as a way to explore and this was an easy thing to share. It got popular and I’ve continued. My goal is to share these treadmill travel videos to help your work out with virtual walks.

  1. I’ve been watching you for about 3 months during my treadmill walking. You mentioned the other walking channels were more popular… but yours is the best! I do enjoy when you talk and give us a bit of education Keep up the great work

  2. I love the talking and information you provide. You point out interesting things along your walk.

  3. Absolutely gorgeous presentation my friend, this looks truly magnificent! Shots are just like postcards, everything is so picturesque here.

  4. Hi Henry, glad you decide to ad commentary again this makes for a much better video and would be more popular in my opinion.
You asked why other people are more popular, i think live streaming is the most popular way to go of late People like Louise Poppy and Roy explores Roy is from San Fransisco and very popular but the biggest one is Ariel Viera Urbanist exploring citys. you may want to look at them on youtube, they all interact with the audience and the audience with each other so maybe one day a week you can go live and have live chats, that is one option I know i like to chat with people on their channels especially with Roy from SF. anyway love the video if i can help please message any time.
