Naka-Karuizawa (中軽井沢), is a small town located to the west of Kyu-Karuizawa in Nagano Prefecture. Naka-Karuizawa does have fewer shops and restaurants than Kyu-Karuizawa. However there are other facilities that visitors can only experience in this town. For example, the Hoshino Resort, an elegant shopping area with chic restaurants meets the nature in the woods complete with a hot spring bath. In addition, there are interesting museums and spacious parks in this town.

Visitors wishing to bath in the Hoshino Onsen are advised to go to Tonbo no Yu public bathhouse, located at the center of the Hoshino resort. The baths are gender separated and there is both an indoor and outdoor bath visitors can enjoy. Visitors spending the night in Naka-Karuizawa may consider staying at Hoshinoya, as it is a leading resort hotel in Karuizawa with hot spring baths to staying guests.

Nature loving shopping enthusiastic will enjoy browsing the stores and restaurants with the wooden facades. With the wooden terraces and delicious mountain air, it is a combination of elegant shopping in the fresh outdoors. However, it is quite crowded on the weekends and during meal times!

Visitors will walking around the resort will feel this next building is like a scene from a fairy tale. An architecturally brilliant stone structure which blends flawlessly into the naturally surrounding woods. The Stone Church is beautiful both on the outside and the inside. The church’s imaginative and charming interior makes this church a popular venue to hold weddings. However, when the church is not being used for weddings, the general public is more than welcome to wander around and experience its brilliance!
