Brazilians love their all-you-can-eat/rodizio food.
From pizza, to churrasco bbq, to sushi…
On this episode, we went to Liberdade, the Japanese town in São Paulo to try the highly recommended buffet sushi at Tanka Restaurant. Trust me, the Japanese food in Brazil is different then elsewhere. Check our reaction trying Japanese – Brazilian food.

  2. Brazil is what the future of the world looks like when it comes to the mixture of the world population. The Brazilian pardo is a new race never before seen in the world. 🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷

  3. Any person who is born here and speaks the language fluently will be considered as Brazilian as anybody else. No matter where the parents come from, skin colour or anything. It's the result of a society which has always been mixed. THAT BEING SAID, racial prejudice and things like that are unfortunately still very, very real; and a big part of the problem is the "racial democracy" myth which states that since our racial relations are different from those in the US (something like a church that is only attended by black people would be considered absolutely abnormal here), we are not a racist country. We were the last country to abolish slavery, with no compensations or anything for the freed slaves, and that has had a deep effect on the social picture. Polls have shown that while the majority of Brazilians say they are not racist, the same majority also say they know someone who is, which is very telling. Besides racial prejudice against black people, we also have a serious problem of ignorance towards everything related to our neighbor countries. Unfortunately latin american culture as a whole is usually ignored, a majority of people don't care about learning Spanish or anything like that, and people who can afford traveling around the world a lot of times just ignore the countries of their own continent. This has been changing, though, but it's a slow process – and the americanized entertainment industry certainly doesn't help.

  4. I would love to help you guys here in Rio. If you want a sort of a guide, let me know haha I could show you some places if you come here

  5. So, actually we also call cream cheese, cream cheese hehe (and it has that name if you look for it on the supermarket). Catupiry is another kind of creamy cheese, it tastes a little stronger and we use it mostly as pizza topping (the one on the sushi is cream cheese, not catupiry) and sometimes also on sandwiches and hot dogs.

  6. The dessert that looks like a canolli is called "canudinho" (little straw), I love them, especially "canudinho de doce de leite".

  7. People keep warning you about security in various places, more because they care than because it's so alarming. The warning sounds like a kindness, they want to appear kind, but you are adults, you know how to take care of yourself, you have travel experience, it's good that you are not paranoid like the other time.

  8. I’m shocked by your realization that brazilian people are treated as brazilian… why would it be any different? Is Canada different from this? Do you treat people as not Canadian if they are not indian/native american? In Brazil, we’re almost all from immigrant roots (the same as most countries with colonies — Canada included) and we’re all brazilian, of course hahah

  9. So, as you probably know, the bulk of the enslaved people from Africa was dropped here in Brazil, the thing is, as we started the process of change in our economic profile from the sugar cane to coffe, we also started a policy of "cleansing of race", and thus started to incentivate European and Asian migration, also, after WWII a lot of italians, and germans came here, Mengele died here in the state of São Paulo as an example.

Also, there is a lot of midle eastern people here, Bolsonaro is descendant of italians, Dilma from eastern europe, and Temer from the midle east.

  10. riends, it would be interesting, if possible, for you to visit other regions of Brazil, there are Chapadas Diamantina, Guimarães, Veadeiros… Bonito/MS, Jalapão/TO, Lençóis Maranhenses, Maragogi…

  11. O tanka realmente é um dos melhores rodízios de comida asiática que já comi e é delicioso, vc come muito bem e sai satisfeito de lá. Fico feliz que foram no Tanka.
