Lots of ups and downs….
Corolla…pronounced "ker-Ah-lah" in eastern/coastal NC
Great video!
JEALOUS!!!!! Enjoy the road and stay safe.
Come on here to New Bern, we have a great KOA here.
Thanks for the great video!!! Lots of good ideas in case you need water below! I love how your community is so helpful. I use a $10 drill pump by Millscraft and 2-10' hoses with 2 collapsible 5-gallon containers. A few trips and you have enough water for the weekend. Its funny.. once I got it I have never needed it, but my friends have!! I learned my lesson when i filled up the fresh water tank, but forgot to close the fresh water drain valve from the year before! LOL
Thank y’all for sharing your adventures with us and being so genuine in them. We all love you guys!!!!!
Can you buy bottled water anywhere.
Oh my goodness! You got stuck! I would have been a bit freaked out too! However that shrimp and the ice cream sandwich were a VERY nice reward! LOL! Btw…I think those are midge flies. What was up with all those sardines on the beach?
I cannot wait to see my living room on the ocean! Thank you for that camera shot!
Great video! We stayed at Frisco Woods Campground in Frisco just above Hatteras in May and had a blast. Loved watching the kite boarders. They were everywhere. May is windy in the OBX so perfect for kiteboarding. We took our truck and Lectric bikes to Okracoke and had perfect weather that day for a ride around the beautiful island. It is so shallow in the Pamlico Sound. The ferry service is having an increasingly difficult time navigating the shifting sandbars. Glad all went well. Warmest wishes for many years of happy and safe travels. Happy Thanksgiving 🦃🍽🍁 and Merry Christmas 🎄 too and Best Wishes for a wonderful 2023! Looking forward to watching your YouTube videos! ❤
Omgosh 😅I would of been so scared on that ferry. That’s nuts. Love y’all
This episode made me miss our days in the trailer so much! Enjoy every minute!
We live in eastern NC and have made the trip to Ocracoke, we love the Outer Banks. We've made the ferry ride over, but never with a RV!
We took our class A with a Jeep Grand Cherokee in tow on that ferry. Great trip; we were traveling from Emerald Isle to Waves. We also did the Lake Champlain ferry from NY to Vermont, the high speed ferry from Bar Harbor ME to Nova Scotia CA. And the Cape May – Lewes ferry.
We always carry two 6 gallon jerry style water jugs to fill fresh water tanks.
I've made the longer ferry trip with a "lesser than desirable camper." I hope you found, as our family did, the feeling of endurance in hindsight. Yes the rain welcomed us. Along with the bugs and ghost crabs oh!!! And the Nor'easter(tiny hurricane). But this is why folks like you and I, choose this path. And drag our kids along. Taking the same trip thru the jersey turnpike, if there is one,( I might have made that up, I don't visit NJ) is just as challenging with no awesome story to tell. The ferry system to Hatteras to Ocracoke to Swan Quarter to Cedar Island… Are all amazing and a trip worth taking. Not many stores, fewer gas stations, but untouched shores and waterways to learn about. You will notice a church of some denomination, at least every 7 miles by land.
Its up to you to understand the culture here.
Its made of nothing but LIGHT.
We are Michigan trolls 😉 and live only a few hours away from Mackinaw Island. My eldest daughter from my first marriage worked the docks for Starline one summer and through their employee perks. We were able to get a free ferry pass for my husband, myself and two younger siblings. We didn't go to the fort because, when we went it was the beginning of the summer season and warning; insanely packed with tourists. We did love taking her younger sister and brother to the butterfly house, which on a hot day was probably not the best idea. They keep it like a hot house for the more tropical loving butterflies. However they did get to assist in releasing several new hatchlings so that alone was 1000% worth it!
We are currently waiting to see if our plans will go through kinda sitting on our backsides waiting on other folks to communicate about making a deposit to hold a TT so, praying they get it done today. Our first one that has been five years of researching and late night insomnia driven YT video watching. Love your fam and got a chuckle out of JJ's lolly holder as a Mother of seven mine ,yours and ours. It's hard to be patient when you're excited to get to you destination sometimes so I understand the wait part and trying to go with the flow perspective. I give you big points for the courage it took you to put your house on that ferry ,not sure I would be able to conquer that fear without a support doughnut.
glad you made it…. we took the ferry over with our camper van, it died at the top of the ramp and had to be pushed off the ferry and we spent over 24 hours on the side of the road right at the ferry landing, waiting on AAA to send someone to get us… it is nice to have the ability to "camp" anywhere…stay safe, Tim and Cat
So, was your fire at the life guard beach? Did not look like it.
Just missed you at Rodanthe. Once you take the Ocracoke-Cedar Island ferry, if you head south, visit Swansboro. Quaint little waterfront town.
Oh gosh you are near us!
Looks like you guys had a good time. I love being in an RV when it rains. The harder the better. Sitting at the widow listening to the rain on the roof is great. Of course, although kids are great, you probably don’t get the quiet relaxing time to enjoy the sound of the rain.
Been there and done it a few times.
No,you should not…go back!
J.J and Hensly
The reason you have bugs is because you have dead fish. Dead fish point to red tide or the likes. Bacteria in the water. I don't know if you should be walking or playing in that water. It might be why the watercolor is cotton candy pink.
Happy Thanksgiving ❤
How many of those little spurs that are in the grass did he get stuck in his bare feet? We were just down there on Hatteras last month and I made the mistake of walking barefooted in the grass of the campground. Those little spurs tore my foot up. I was picking them out for 10 minutes.
Who says there's no such thing as magic. Memories are the true magic.
Did you stay at the park service site, or teeters? My family lives on Ocracoke; backporch restaurant is my aunt's place.
When I was younger, they actually moved the Hatteras lighthouse a short distance inland. Oh, it's 'Ocra'(like you eat, 'Coke' (like you hopefully drink😆)
Was this visit post-Dorian?
My family vacations on the outer banks often. I make it a point to go to Ocracoke at least one day while we are there. It is an amazing place!
Glad you had such a good time. Beware of riding electric bikes in water. Lithium batteries can explode if get wet. Also salt water is very corrosive. also sand can foul lots of mechanical parts.
you should have gone to Teether Campground it has hooked up
Great video I live in NC and in 2000 I went to every lighthouse in NC in one week I believe there are 7 of them I rode ferries with 18-wheeler on them. You all missed all the crowds by coming in November
Love this video. We had to wait 3 hours to go over to Ocracoke. Fun little town
