This time, I took the [Kintetsu Limited Express Shimakaze] from Kyoto Station in Kyoto Prefecture to Kashikoshima Station in Mie Prefecture. This time, I boarded the “Shimakaze” train departing from Kyoto. There are four types of seats on the “Kintetsu Limited Express Shimakaze”: “Premier Seats,” “Salon Seats,” “Japanese Style Private Rooms,” and “Western Style Private Rooms. I recommend making reservations as soon as Kintetsu goes on sale, as only one private room is available in each of these categories.
One of the advantages of using a private room is the high sound insulation. I was able to enjoy our private time in a private room without being able to hear the conversation of the ladies from Osaka who were using the “Western-style private room” next to me. Osaka people tend to prefer speaking a lot in conversation but this time I couldn’t hear anything from them.
Shimakaze also has a café car, but only in the private rooms, the crew will bring your meals to you, so you can enjoy the scenery to Kashikoshima as you enjoy the scenery flowing by.
The menu in the cafe car includes seasonal sweets, beef curry using Matsuzaka beef, Shimakaze lunch boxes, and a variety of other dishes, providing an environment that can be enjoyed no matter how many times you board the train.
