5 bugs that freak me out in Japan. Although I was never really scared of bugs while growing up in Canada (aside from bees/wasps), in Japan, the bugs are bigger and freakier!

@wicreed I have to agree with you on that one!
@IauthenticI you are soooooo right!
Hmm… I did some reasearch on your freaky invertebrates (I'm pretty sure most of your freaky bugs aren't true bugs). Idk
Anyway… I heard all centipedes have venom to a certain degree… it's just that some are more potent. Some people keep roaches for herp food, or as pets, gaining popularity as the former.
I agree 100% on your view on caterpillars! But I heard they're poisonous, which is apparently different than venomous.
Here in Arizona, we have scorpions, which are pretty freaky.
Stink bugs!!!!!!!!!!! I heard they were from Asia and they are COVERING my house! they dont do anything but get in your house and bug you!
are there a lot of bugs in japan? i am afraid of bugs.
@jxz107 poison is in the creature, for example i believe japanese grass snakes are poisonous, meaning if u eat it then ud die. wheras venom is something that is injected via fangs or a stinger.
So it turns out Japanese people aren't small. It's just that everything around them is gigantic!
@Auron710 On and in would be more appropriate. And snakes have venom, not So you'd have to be severely parasitized by the meat to die, but the venom of a snake is harmless if consumed. Unless the snake is the "japanese"(not really appropriate considering it lives in other countries) keelback, you know, R.Tigrinus(the grass snake you mentioned). I'm pretty sure it has an anticoagulatory venom, and a type of bufotoxin poison.
Man, that centipede looked crazy!
@wicreed these bugs are nothin compared to the insects in the other parts of the world
I made the mistake of watching this while eating..
I really wanted to go to Japan some day…but now that I know about this Suzumebachi..I DONT WANNA!!! D= I am TERRIFIED of bees. ALL bees.
i like bugs…i like them …
when i was walking in the woods, a pray mantis fell on my head..
Hey, Im going to japan in the next few years and i fuckn hate bugs is there are a good time to go? were do they come out and hwo do i keep safe?
@wicreed If you think Japans bugs are on steroids you should go to Australia…
It seems as though you just dislike bugs in general, the mantis and centipede would have eaten the roach. While the centipedes have a somewhat aggressive temperment they rarely venture above the leaf litter. The mantis, and giant hornet are actually very friendly, and almost never bother you unless you really piss them off. The caterpiller is really the only dangerous one, grabbing one is certainly a painful experience, but luckily they arent around all summer long.
are you on drugs ?
You didn't list one spider.. NOT ONE!! How can you NOT be afraid of spiders? My top freaky bug is the Black Widow and the Sun Spiders here! Oh and here in California, our centipedes here can get very large with big fangs, and they too are venomous. I have only seen about 4 big ones in my life, up in the mountains of Northern CA. Those Japanese Hornets are monsters! I would die from fright before they got a chance to sting me! LOL
I'm scared to go to Japan now! I can't stand bugs. Just yesturday I had to throw my blanked out becouse a huge beetle was on it!
must be the same Radiation mutation as GODZILLA!!!
That bee is also called a yak killer
i have a friend in japan right now and late last nite she was telling me that she had 2 getcha getcha bugs on her door. idk if that is the correct spelling of the bug but i can't seem to find a picture of it online. has anyone ever seen one or know the correct spelling or name of it?
Throw out? Seems like a waste of material.
Why did I google giant hornet? Goodbye sleep…
Can we not export or inport with other nations now. I'm terrified that those creepy venemous bugs and bee's will start populating here. No spank you! Keep them in Japan!!
We have a lot of these in Hawaii as well. The roaches here are massive! I put my shoes on for work one time and felt something moving my my toe so when I got to work I took the shoe off and a monster roach casually flew out (here people usually leave their shoes outside so that must be how it got in). Centipedes are so scary too. I've been fortunate to never have been bitten but people explain the pain as being just as bad as being shot. I'm not sure how true that is though. I've heard many stories of people waking up to a bite while they sleep because a centipede has climed up into the bed with them. I guess they also prefer legs? I have many cane spider stories though >_<
Im a Australian tat live in Nara Kashihara, thats near Osaka and I deal with all these and more everyday. In fact I used a outdoor vac/blower and sucked up about 20 centipedes some larger than my hand. Days later I forgot all about them and went to empty the bag and they fell out all over my feet and hands.. scared the shit out of me until I realized they were all dead
Coword. Fuzzy catapiller becomes beautiful butterfly.
A shirine of one place worships for centipede in local Japan.
