Miyajima (Itsukushima), also known as the island of the Gods is often regarded as one of Japan’s most scenic destination. Upon a visit to the beautiful, extraordinary place, I can really understand why. It is lush and green, full of beautiful nature, but also exotic architecture in the temples (hence Gods in the title of the island of the Gods). The atmosphere is lovely on Miyajima and there is simply so much to do, you can explore the picturesque old town, hike through the awe-inspiring nature, indulge yourself in Japan’s oldest traditions, eat amazing food or simply go to the beach. I love this island, possibly one of the most beautiful places I’ve ever had the chance to visit, travel and explore.
