Chef Takahashi Yuta prepares an incredible omakase experience for Shizuka at Sushi Rinda in Meguro, with a side of playful conversation. Having gone to high school in Canada (like Shizuka), chef Yuta speaks English quite well, chatting about his backstory as he serves up a deluxe lunch of nigiri sushi and sake.
The artisan craftsmanship at Sushi Rinda is apparent in the details, from the gorgeous pewter sake vessels to the traditional method of preparing aburi sushi over hot coals. This even extends to the miso soup, which uses miso paste that is made by the restaurant owner’s grandmother! The owner’s family also runs a citrus farm, and the various fruit juices feature as an all-you-can-drink dessert at the end of the meal.
At the end, the bill came to 20,000 JPY (about 190 USD).

Shizuka, You are a great host. As a life long diver, fisherman, cook, and person who has a lot of experience with drinks, I can appreciate your commentary and experiences. The fact that you did not use shoyu shows respect to the chef and an appreciation for the natural taste of the sushi. Can't wait to visit Japan again after Covid. This channel is awesome.
