We celebrate our very first Dia de Muertos in Mexico. We chose the state of Michoacán specifically the cities of Morelia and Pátzcuaro due to their reputation of having the best Day of the Dead festivities and decorations. We explore the town center of Morelia with its cempasúchil and tapetes. We see a creepy auto parade of terror, and a beautiful Catrina parade. We visit two plazas with intricate altares (alters) before heading to Pátzcuaro, which is known for their more traditional celebrations. We visit both the municipal cemetery of Pátzcuaro as well as a small local one on our way back to Morelia.
