Kokura Castle is a castle in Kitakyushu, Japan. It was built by Hosokawa Tadaoki starting in 1602, with construction completed in 1608.

At this event over 30,000 bamboo lanterns installed among the grounds of Kokura Castle which produce nice illumination that invite the people to visit the castle to see its beauty at night from November 2nd to 6th, Bamboos from the abandoned forest of the city were used in making the lanterns.
Elementary school students were some of the volunteers who helped in making the lanterns. Some bamboos were creatively carved to make unique designs. the volunteer citizens creates a dreamlike atmosphere for visitors to enjoy.
