TRINIDAD AND TOBAGO – Welcome to Trinidad and Tobago and one of the things I was most excited to try when I was there were the Trinidad scorpion chilies – lab tested at 1,463,700 Scoville heat units – making it one of the hottest chili peppers in the world! The scorpion peppers are indigenous in Trinidad and Tobago and today we’re going to try them out.

Big thank you to #visitTrinidad for inviting me to Trinidad and Tobago and for making this trip happen! Guide to the things and food in this video: https://visittrinidad.tt/things-to-do/cuisine/scorpion-pepper-experience-in-trinidad-with-mark-wiens/

Kerryann Sultan’s Pepper Farm in Cunupia – Our first stop on this ultra spicy food tour in Trinidad is Kerryann Sultan’s Pepper Farm, where they are responsible for growing some of the best scorpion peppers you’ll find. It was so cool to see the source and how they grow.

Bertie’s Pepper Sauce (https://www.instagram.com/bertiespeppersauce/) – Hot pepper sauce is one of the joys of eating food in Trinidad and Tobago and so it was amazing to see the process of one of the best hot pepper sauces in Trinidad.

Quan Kep’s Pork Shed (https://goo.gl/maps/6yNQMxoa1ziM8fwi8) – Next we’re heading over to Couva, Trinidad & Tobago, to Quan Kep’s Pork Shed, know for their crispy fried pork and Trinidadian Chinese dishes. The food was amazing, the crispy pork and the hot peppers – and the fried pork with the Moruga scorpion chili. Chinese food is yet another cultural representation of Trinidadian food.

Sylvie’s Roti Shop (https://goo.gl/maps/usqv9U57bXy2Ea467) – San Juan, Trinidad & Tobago – Finally to complete this extra spicy food tour we went to one of Zaaks favorite roti shops for rice and dal and accompanying dishes. And this is where I tasted the true power of the Trinidad scorpion – absolutely fire!!

  1. It's always good to see a well established company with great people. I love spicy food, never tried this particular sauce. Thanks for the great video!

  2. Watching Zaak face by Sylvie when Mark pull out the bag of pepper 🌢
    πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

  3. Sylvie's is less than 10 minutes from my house…. the food is always great πŸ‘
Bertie's pepper factory is between my home and Sylvie's

  4. Thank you for covering this. Trinidad is where most of the hottest peppers came from, and then ppl used what they already produced to make their own peppers and claim to be the hottest (Carolina reaper), but Trinidad is where it all came from. They held the record for hottest peppers for years.

  5. MARK is insane!!! IM in Trinidad and Tobago and I dear not eat that pepper are you crazy lol Mark definitely isπŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚ Love yah Mark!

  6. I don’t appreciate how he’s pronouncing β€œpepper”
    Sounds like a culture vulture

  7. It’s a strange condition of mine. I HATE, HATE, HATE mark weins so much and yet Icant resist watching his videos. It’s as if I WANT to get angry! God i hate this guy

  8. My favorite peppers are scotch bonnets. Scorpions are just too hot. I do enjoy scorpion sauce though. As long as it’s fruit focused and not made to hurt you on purpose.

  9. That pork looked delicious. I'm not sure why I found it so amusing that it got cooked 3 times.

  10. Mark, you should visit Assam (India) and try the "Bhut jolokia" also known as the "Ghost pepper"! It looks very similar to the scorpion! πŸ₯΅

  11. I love when Mark is enjoying his food πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚you Can se his face reaction 😜of joy πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚β€β€β€β€ 19:52

  12. I never realized how diverse and beautiful Trinidad is. I feel like a lot of people overseas (or at least where I am from) do not realize what a jewel this place is! Gorgeous country! Definitely on my list of places to visit! And that food! I JUST WANT TO EAT MY WEIGHT IN ALL OF THAT DELICIOUSNESS! (But I can do without the Scorpion Peppers. I would die.)

  13. Who is this gringo passing out crackers for taste testing? 😭😭 I would have asked to some tortilla chips!

  14. Wish we had these peppers in South Africa..simply cannot get ANY of this anywhere…no fair.
