Platanias Chania Crete Greece

Platanias is village in Chania bay on the north coast of Crete, just 11 km western from the center of Chania city.

It’s popular touristic destination for its long sandy beach and close location to famous Chania. Platanias has all the facilities for spending holidays.

The village is situated along the main road which is connecting Chania and Kissamos. There are no obvious boarders with neighbouring village and buildings of Platanias continuously transits on east into Agia Marina so it looks like one long destination along the coast.

The beach belonging to Platanias is approximately 2 km long and there are organized parts as well as free places.
Platanias river is at the western edge of the beach and small seaport a the eastern.
The island of Agioi Theodoroi lies in the Cretan sea 2 km north-eastern from Platanias coast and is very specific point in surrounding landscape. The picturesque background of village create hills of northern part of White Mountains (Lefka Ori).
