I was able to make a trip down to Kyushu (Yame city, Fukuoka) for the weekend and visited some very interesting machiya and kominka houses.
Yanagawa, a castle town west of Yame, was also a very unique tourist destination with the canals surrounding the town. There are just more and more abandoned houses in different parts of Japan…

  1. You will pardon my ignorance but is Japan still required to wear face masks? It is reassuring to see the history and structures enjoyed. So much can disappear when not perceived to have value. Beauty can be found in the grain of the wood to the placement of the structure. If only one could create the same where I am.
