  1. I don't want to be speeded up when I eat, and I DEFINITELY don't want a more limited menu. We're doing the Enchantment in February, and I seriously hope that they're not doing this. It's not what I expected when I booked, and my husband has a very limited diet. No classics would be a problem, to put it mildly. The lobster surcharge isn't that big of a deal.

  2. I have been on 3 RCL cruises since cruising restarted, by the time we got to the 3rd cruise we stopped going to the main dining room at all. The food was not good, ingredients were low quality, and the preparation uneatable at times. I have made these comments on the survey every time RCL sent me one. Thinking reducing the choices on the menu will help is not a great idea until they can start making good food to begin with.

  3. These cruise lines keep nickel and dime everything, they're not going to build more customers they're going to detour them.

  4. On RC's Lobster Night, do they really serve a whole lobster? If so, I don't want one. I only eat lobster tails. That said, the charge for a 2nd whole lobster seems like a bargain. But why an 18% added tip?

  5. What is the current wholesale price of lobster?
What are the catch limits of trapping lobsters? What are the size and weight limits to keep one? I know that some areas are concerned with overfishing.

  6. Yokohama is wonderful, great shopping and food. I spent a couple months on a Navy ship in Yokosuka a quick train ride away. We liked it better than Tokyo. Favorite was Hong Kong, but not returned since the British turned it over to China 😒

  7. I have a friend who is highly sensitive to gluten as well as having many food allergies. (Yes, she's been tested and they are real.) The buffet is not a real option since they don't list ingredients.
Will RC have dishes she can eat on a very limited daily menu?
Maybe RC should seat people by those who want speed versus those who want leisurely dining. Have a limited menu for speedy diners and larger menu for others. This should be done at each meal. No one should be locked into this choice for the entire cruise.
This would be harder to do in the traditional Early and Late Seating arrangement.
Or is the real driver on this limited menu scheme a desire to reduce the galley staff drastically?

  8. My mom is Japanese and I’ve been fortunate to have visited the country 10 times. (Dad worked for Pan Am ) It’s a really special country. People are polite and everything JUST WORKS SO WELL. aI enjoy the polite formality of the culture. It’s he one place outside the great USA that I could see myself happily living there.

  9. We’re currently sailing on the Mardi Gras and I have to say that the overall service and dining experience is really disappointing to what it was when cruising started up last year. We decided this was our last trip with Carnival but now it sounds like RCL is following suit😞

  10. We took our kids on Carnival twice T the beginning of the year, and Princess last month. The kids club was way better on Princess. They absolutely loved it. Also, kids 3 and under don't pay gratuities (or get medalions)

  11. I think that all of the cruise line are raising prices in order to make up for the loss of money that they lost for 2 years this is the beginning of what is 2 come from the cruise line and they might cut back on how people that they let into the dining room well it looks like we are going to be paying more money 2 take a cruise now

  12. RCCL is already expensive doesn’t surprise me about any up charge they can spring on us.

  13. Hey Tony
Good news as usual. I’m not surprised that RC is charging surcharges and limiting things. Once one does, they all will join in. How about RC just say your dining time is limited? I would like to see Japan but not from a cruise ship. It’s one of those places I’d need a week at.

  14. Since food is such a big part of the cruise experience and now we see cruise lines cutting back for economic reasons in the dining room this leaves an opening for another cruise line to advertise “fantastic food experience”.

  15. Many years ago, 2016 to be exact, my server in the main dining room asked ME if I wanted additional lobster tails. In all my cruising experience it was always our servers who asked if we wanted more, more appetizers, entrées or desserts. One server actually said we could order every dessert on the menu if we wished. I did not know we could order so much until our servers instructed us on this practice.

  16. This explains why I can no longer see the MDR menu in the Royal app for my upcoming Symphony OTS cruise. And perhaps why I received a curious pre-cruise survey with lots of MDR questions. So glad that I agreed to participate in another survey while on board. We enjoy the MDR experience and for sure do not want to be rushed but by the same token don't need to spend 2+ hours in the dining room. I won't be happy if they limit my selections that I'm pretty sure I already paid for, but we'll see.

  17. Just came off Celebrity Summit with way low capacity, only 900 guests. Wondering if those extra lobsters wouldn't get eaten when capacity is low like that. Might as well give guests what they expect. It would probably add to uniqueness if all other lines follow that path

  18. I have traveled to Japan, spent 3 weeks there… It was AMAZING!!
    THANKS for all you do!
