  1. Where was the actual cabin you stayed in, presumably? Could we actually see it , please? Review the food, even if you don`t care, with a word or two.

  2. what a great video really did enjoyed I'm thinking of doing it in the summer of 2024. I'll be doing a video from Penzance UK to Katowice in Poland for next year in October

  3. Think Ill do the zephyr too, but only between Denver and Emeryville – the portion of the trip seems kind of boring.

  4. I must have been extremely lucky to not have any delays from charlotte NC, all the way to San Francisco using amtrak.

  5. Thank you for showing the views from the windows. So many other video want to show only the inside of the train. In fact one video shows the guy walking up and down the stairs at least four time. Again thank you for showing the real reason to travel by train. There is so much to see outside of the cities by train.

  6. It’s too bad you couldn’t layover in Sacramento because in old Sacramento is the California State Railroad Museum where one of the highlights is a real Southern Pacific cab forward steam locomotive that you can get up close and personal and sit in the engineer’s seat
Also you could have taken the BART commuter train into S F from there

  7. The lounge sublime, really sublime is a word you use to discribe the lounge is it? You set a really low bar don’t you.

  8. A sort of "grand tour" is one item on my bucket list.

Assuming they ever bring back the Silver Meteor (I'm near Tampa Bay), it would go:
    Silver Meteor, Orlando to NYC
    Crescent, NYC to New Orleans
City of New Orleans, New Orleans to Chicago
    Empire Builder, Chicago to Seattle
    Coast Starlight, Seattle to LAX
    Southwest Chief, LAX to Chicago
    California Zephyr, Chicago to Emeryville
    Pacific Surfliner, Emeryville to LAX
    Texas Eagle, LAX to Chicago
Lake Shore Limited, Chicago to Boston
    Acela First, Boston to DC
    Capitol Limited, DC to Chicago
    Cardinal, Chicago to NYP
    Silver Star, NYP to Tampa

The only long route that's missing, is the Sunset Limited. So I'd miss the stretch between San Antonio and New Orleans. But I'd see just about everything else.

    Like I said, bucket list.

  9. At 1:26… does the extra plus sized girl actually have a sock with rabbit ears covering her phone?
    Some serious issues there. LOL

  10. If you want to get to San Francisco completely by rail, hop off the Zephyr in Richmond and take BART into the city

  11. From Grand Jct to Denver in the fall when the colors change on the mountain, is an amazing trip. Glenwood Canyon, Gore Pass, Winter Park. Never get tired of that 8 he trip. The food is good, and the beer is cold.

  12. Geez. Look at what’s in the opposite chair you’d need a strong engine to pull that…..

  13. I took this trip in April 2022! communal dining was back! I cant wait to do this again next April!

  14. When I took the Empire Builder from Seattle to Chicago back in March of 2022, communal meals were allowed and it was fun to talk with different passengers at each meal.

  15. I’m so thankful for this video. I’m currently in NYC and will be returning to SF at the end of the year. I assumed I would fly back but now I think I’ll take these trains! You inspire! Btw….how cold were the cabins/train during winter?

  16. A wonderful trip this is indeed. I took a trip from Worcester, MA. – San Francisco and thoroughly enjoyed it. Unfortunately I wasn't able to see much in the Sierra Nevada's due to a major snowstorm, I did atleast get to see them plowing the tracks 🙂

  17. I've taken the train from NYC to San Francisco (Emeryville), with stopovers in Pittsburg and Chicago. I had a blast!

  18. I just got home from taking the lake shore limited thats the one I take all the time to go back home..I live in Boston and go back home its 2 hours on the train

  19. Little by little secrets revealed, for example your faithful travel companion and fiancée is named Eli…later, the lady's phone, is it model S21 or 22?, is covered in white fur, love it.
