At Santa Monica’s westernmost point, the Santa Monica Pier is home to the iconic Ferris Wheel jutting into the inviting waters of the Pacific Ocean. Packed with family-friendly activities, vibrant street performers, restaurants and shops, the Pier also offers stunning views and over a century of history. Constructed in 1909, the storied Santa Monica Pier was the first concrete pier on the West Coast.

  1. This is my youngest kids favorite place in California. My oldest kids favorite is Laguna beach and I still love Balboa Island as well. Cali is calling.

  2. Love this! my daughter and I did the walk from Venice beach to Santa Monica pier and back – saw the muscle beach you showcased but I don’t recall seeing the newer one you mentioned – guess we just have to go back 😊

  3. The Santa Monica Pier looks much better than it did when you did the walking tour a couple years ago when everything was mostly closed due to the pandemic! It's great to see things back up and running again. I'm surprised not many people go all the way to the end of the pier. That's one of the things I always like to do on a pier – I always have to go to the end!

  4. If anyone is familiar with the mobile game Pokemon Go, the Pier is one of the best places in the world to catch Pokemon

  5. Fun fact, Hot Dog on Stick started on Santa Monica Beach, I saw that on and episode of either "California's Gold" With Huell Howser or "Visiting with Huell Howser" I have a Rte 66 story, when I was about 8 0r 9, my dad and I went out to see my grandparents (his parents) in Perris, Ca/ My grandmother asked my grandfather to go to Stater Bros for her , so my dad drove and when he parked across the street from the grocery store (for non so. Californians who may not know what Stater Bros is) and left me in the car. I saw all of these hot rods(classic rebuilt cars that are "souped" up) coming pass me. It was some kind of car show on Route 66 on its way to San Bernadino . I didn't know it then but as I got older and listened to Nat King Cole"s classic song "Route 66" where he mentions SB , I put two and two together. Back when I was going to community college, I applied for a job assisting in supervising, setting up/ cleaning up after children's birthday parties. I ended up not taking that job because it conflicted with my school schedule at the time . Casa Del Mar, Shutters on the Beach and Lowes Santa Monica are some of the most well known hotels on the beach, and have the prices /night to prove it.

  6. Whenever I go to Santa Monica I go there all the time and this is the best pier I ever been too in L.A. and Orange County ❀

  7. I did this exact walk back in April all the way from the end of the pier to Venice Beach…and back. Our feet were really sore by the end of it. The highlight was watching a Quincinera and. Bah Mitzvah being celebrated at the same time opposite each other in the middle of the pier.

  8. Wow, first thing I missed leaving Japan, CLEAN restrooms and HEATED toilet seats!!!!
Japanese Airports are sparkling clean, LAX looks and smells like the inside of a garbage can!!!!

  9. Great video I've visited santa Monica many times I have family and friends who live close to the beach I was last here in 2019 I need to make a return trip maybe early next year Mike uk.
