DAY 8 of 12 – On the next leg of our epic 12-day road trip around the Japanese island of Kyushu, I explored the Southern-most tip from Ibusuki to Kagoshima.
This is one of the most volcanic regions of Japan, with many volcanoes and more than 800 hot springs. I started my day at an abandoned salt factory which had very loud steam gushing from the ground. I also explored two very old shrines by the coast, the Ryugu Shrine and the Kamafuta Shrine.
The coastline here is very rocky and I had a lot of fun exploring the rock pools and discovering the many sea creatures living there. Of course, I aIso stopped off at a few different places for some tasty snacks!
