Stockholm is the capital of Sweden. It has the most populous urban area in Sweden as well as in Scandinavia. 1 million people live in the municipality, approximately 1.6 million in the urban area, and 2.4 million in the metropolitan area. The city stretches across fourteen islands where Lake Mälaren flows into the Baltic Sea. Outside the city to the east, and along the coast, is the island chain of the Stockholm archipelago. The area has been settled since the Stone Age, in the 6th millennium BC, and was founded as a city in 1252 by Swedish statesman Birger Jarl. It is also the county seat of Stockholm County.

    I first heard reversing bleepers like that here in England in about 1968 on a fleet of new buses. A lot of our ambulances have a stern recorded voice saying "Warning vehicle reversing" Tough if you don't speak English! I thought most of the Stockholm trams went when you changed to driving on the right in 1967. The doors were on the wrong side and it was too expensive to alter them. I think they just bought new buses.

    Regarding the sound made by trucks doing a reverse – here in Latvia that's the 'favourite' sound of people who have large dumpsters behind their bedroom windows which are visited by waste collectors very early every morning… 😀 I live next to an entertainment quarter and their dumpster ground is behind my windows, so I'm especially 'lucky'… 😀
