Today, my friends, we will continue our walking tour through the streets of the Prague Old Town.
00:00 Rytířská Street (Knight’s Street)in the Old Town of Prague is in the area between the Fruit and Coal Market, where knight tournaments took place in September 1347 as part of the celebrations of the coronation of Charles IV. and their tradition remained here until the 18th century.

03:30 Wenceslas Square (Václavské náměstí)
This Square is the commercial and administrative center of the city as well as the site of important social and historical events. Here you’ll find cinemas, theatres, banks, hotels, restaurants, dozens of small and large shops, and administrative centers. The Square was created during the founding of the New Town by Charles IV in 1348. Today it is dominated by the National Museum (1885 – 1891) and Josef Václav Myslbek’s statue of the national patron St Wenceslas from 1912.

06:35 The Estates Theatre or Stavovské divadlo is a historic theater in Prague, Czech Republic. The Theatre was built during the late 18th century in response to Enlightenment thought regarding public access to the Theatre, and theatres themselves demonstrate a nation’s cultural standards. The Estates Theatre was designed by Anton Haffenecker and built in a little less than two years for the aristocrat František Antonín Count Nostitz Rieneck. One of the Estates Theatre’s many claims to glory is its strong link with Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, who conducted the world premiere of his opera Don Giovanni here in October 1787. Also, in 1791, Mozart’s La Clemenza di Tito was staged in public here for the first time in celebration of the coronation of Emperor Leopold II. It is the only Theatre left standing where Mozart performed.
08:00 Fruit Market (Ovocný trh) is a small, narrow square that sits in the space between Celetna and Rytířska streets in Prague. The market has been in existence since the early 13th century and was a center of the fruit and vegetable trade until the early 20th century. Its current name has been in use since 1870. Several famous Prague buildings are located on the square – the Estates Theatre (Stavovské Divadlo), the Karolinum, the Kolowrat Palace, the House of the Black Madonna (Dům U Černé Matky Boží), and the rear part of the Myslbek Palace. Today, the Fruit Market is part of the Old Town pedestrian zone.

10:35 The Powder Tower (Prašná brána) is one of Old Town’s original 13 city gates, Prague. Its construction began in 1475. The tower was intended to be an attractive entrance into the city instead of a defensive tower. The foundation stone was placed by Vladislav II. The city council gave Vladislav II the tower as a coronation gift. While it was being built, it was called the New Tower. The tower’s look was inspired by Peter Parler’s work on the Charles Bridge.

16:00 Dlouhá is a street in Prague’s Old Town in the Prague 1 district, connecting Old Town Square and Revoluční Street. The street runs from Old Town Square in a north-easterly direction, turns in an arc to the east, parallel to the Vltava, and flows vertically into Revoluční street. Historically, one of the most critical trade routes has been running here since the formation of the settlement around Old Town Square, which continued through the German merchant settlement in the Petrská čtvrt area (around Petrské náměstí) to the ford near Štvanice and further, where it connected Prague with Pojizeří and Eastern Bohemia. Today, its economic and transport importance is somewhat secondary, but many good restaurants and cafes are located here.

16:45 Hope floats – The floating wire sculpture in Prague is an ode to Ukrainian mothers. A ghostly new piece of street art adorns a street in Prague. Created by local artist Veronika Psotková, the work is dedicated to mothers suffering the consequences of the war in Ukraine. Named ‘Vinok’ after the traditional Ukrainian headdress the wraith-like figure bears, this haunting work of art will hover over Dlouhá Street throughout the summer. The metal installation is in the form of a female figure in a wreath, suspended in the air. It is best viewed in the dark, as the floating, hovering wire figure is silhouetted against the darkness.

Live is life

Live is life
When we all give the power
We all give the best
Every minute of an hour
Don't think about a rest
Then you all get the power
You all get the best
When everyone gives everything
And every song everybody sings
Then it's life
Live is life
Live is life
Live
Live is life, when we all feel the power
Live is life, come on stand up and dance
Live is life, when the feeling of the people
Live is life, is the feeling of the band, yeah
When we all give the power
We all give the best
Every minute of an hour
Don't think about a rest
Then you all get the power
You all get the best
And everyone gives everything and every song
Everybody sings
Then it's life
Live is life
Live
Live is life
Live
Live Is life
Live
Live Is life
And you call when it's over
You call it should last
Every minute of the future
Is a memory of the past
'Cause we all gave the power
We all gave the best
And everyone gave everything and every song
Everybody sang
Live is life!
To je prima, že jste se prošel méně rušnými ulicemi. I v nich bylo mnoho zajímavého k vidění. Díky.
The Season Of Fallen Yellow Leaves. It's what I love!
Признаюсь, не забредала в эту часть Праги, с удовольствием с вами погуляла по осеннему городу и открыла для себя новые уголки Праги. Спасибо за чудесную прогулку!
