May 2016
Video recorded in May, 2016. We took a day trip from Osaka, first to Okayama and then to Kurashiki. We wanted to visit the Korakuen Garden in Okayama, and see the canal area of Kurashiki.
——
Okayama (岡山)
We took a walk from the station to Okayama castle (about 20-30 min walk), which is right next to the Korakuen Garden. Since we just got back from visiting Himeji castle we decided not to go in this time, but we took a little stroll outside.
Korakuen (後楽園)
Okayama’s main attraction, Korakuen is ranked as one of Japan’s three best landscape gardens. It is located just beside Okayama Castle, and from the south part of the garden you get a great view of the castle. Lucky for us there was also a beer garden event at the time, so we got some free beer. 🍻
Kurashiki Canal Area (old town) 倉敷
Located only 15 min by train from Okayama station. Kurashiki is most famous for the preserved canal area that dates back to the Edo Period. We walked along the beautiful canal and strolled through the streets full of souvenirs shops and cafés. Well worth the short trip from Okayama.
Miyakeshouten (三宅商店)
We stopped by this lovely little café to have some delicious ice cream and matcha cheesecake.
A lovely little day trip from Osaka ❤️
