  1. I spent some time in Costa Rica. My dentist is there and he informed me that the gates were necessary because without them anyone can claim your belongings. He said people would simply take your stuff!

  2. Hello Stephanie, I would love to join your youtube 5 day challenge but I need to ask a few questions. Is it possible I can email you? Many thanks

  3. I visited last year in San Jose and did the tourist thing. It was beautiful and I loved it. The next time I come I want to go on the Carribean side and experience my folks.

  4. In my experience, people are nicer to dogs and cats than they are to other people.

  5. I love Queretaro.

I use online grocery delivery, and I have local friends, who shop for anything I need.
    Charles Schwab works for me.

  6. You don't know who you are sis. You are a daughter of Zion, a princess of the chosen people of the Most High GOD. You are an Israelite from the tribe of Judah. When we walk into any room or place, people instinctively look to us for leadership. They stare, and listen to us because we are the light of the world. The bible is our prophetic history book. Soon we will be back in our rightful place of rulership in earth. People sense that in you sis.

  7. I love that you are being intentional with your plan to adopt children in CR Stephanie. Good for you! You'll be an excellent madre !

  8. Santa Ana shouldn't be a problem. The problem for many expats is establishing a social circle and figuring out who they are outside their own US/Canada milieu. The trick is to have an autonomous identity.

  9. I am a Black female that moved to Costa Rica earlier this year along with my husband, and I would say your journey is just beginning. Most expats don't move to Costa Rica to go to San Jose, Some people may go to Escazu, which is right above San Jose & a little like Beverly Hills upscale area. The only reason you go to San Jose is to go to the airport in Alajuela. Once you get outside of that area it is green beyond green because of the rainy season. The newer homes that are being built around the country are beautiful & very tropical. You also want to go to Liberia (Guanacaste) side which is a little less rainy. You also want to go to the Carribbean side where the Afro Carribbean population is & becoming very trendy amongst tourists & a lot more Black people are moving to the area where they speak English. Most of the new builds in Costa Rica have synthetic wood flooring, same as in the US. Where I live further south you do not see white tile. I think that's more of a condo thing & once you leave that area, you will see very little condos, except in Jaco (pronounced Haco). I agree Mexico has the old colonial archetecture & Costa Rica is all about nature. I absolutely love it even with the rain. There is a big organic, vegeterian, raw food population going south. A lot of fresh fish, lots of fruits & the farmers market in San Isidro is to die for or live for. My point is just know that expats don't go to San Jose unless they are going to the airport or conducting business or a particular reason; never to live. Costa Rica is very diverse so you really have to travel around before forming opinions.

  10. Just to add a little info to this conversation is most of the Black people that are from Costa Rica are on the Carribbean side. You are not going to see a lot of Blacks in San Jose, maybe a few here & there. Black people primarily who move to Costa Rica have no desire to move to San Jose. And in the dry season, it can get into the low 90's or the 80's even in the rainy season on very sunny days midday. High humidity but a comfortable humidity. Mosquitoes in the evening, always have your non-toxic repellent to put on when the sun starts to go down. Please take San Jose off the table unless you like a crowded town with bad traffic & big ditches. That is not where you want to live. If you move to Costa Rica because your employer has an office there & you need to be close to the airport, check out Escazu. And yes I am well traveled around the world because I was a flight attendant for a long time & I am well traveled. I have brought Vanilla extract at the regular store. Certain things we like are very expensive like Nutritional yeast, tahini, miso, things I eat as a vegetarian. Vanilla beans grow in CR so it is plentiful. Hair care products you need to make your own. You have to have some flexibility. I hate to keep adding to this conversation but once you get outside of the more populated areas you will see very few McDonalds, Starbucks, Subways, etc. But is that what you're moving to CR for? They have great coffee here, support the local coffee shops, great coffee. Leave the processed junk food in America. One more suggestion is do your due diligence, lots of different climate zones here. If you don't want much rain & love more sun, research those areas before you move to a much rainier area & you're unhappy. I'm not putting Ssn Jose down, just trying to put things into perspective for someone moving from a a place like the US or Europe & moving to a third world country.

  11. Hi Stephanie! I've been watching you for a few months now. You've opened my eyes. Thank you for all this good stuff. I am excited because I am starting my life over and I feel like a kid again. I want to find remote work so that I can make enough money to live as I continue to build my business and enjoy living in a different country.

  12. I just got back from 8 days in CR. I’m definitely going to buy or build a home there in the next 2 years. I love it there. Been going for over 10 yrs and seeing the pacific side really resonated my soul and theres the Caribbean side which is also beautiful.

  13. My Canadian dentist ordered my veneers from a CR manufacturer. I have had them for over 10 years. Best money I have ever spent on myself.

  14. Fwiw.. I once heard an interview with a man who operated as a double sagent for the United States and Britain. They were talking about the times to come. They asked him, if you could live anywhere in the world, where would you live? He said Costa Rica. They asked him why. He said because they're happy people and with the things that are coming? You'll need to be around happy people.
