  1. Japanese museums are excellent. In Tokyo there's the Edo-Tokyo museum, The Advertising Museum, the Shitamachi Museum– the list goes on and they're all far more beautiful and totally engrossing than I imagined. I absorbed so much information. The atmosphere is quiet, and they're rarely crowded so you can take your time and really study what you're reading and looking at. FYI, the Bishop Museum in Honolulu, Oahu is EXCELLENT too. Also, if anybody reading is planning a trip to Takayama they're in for a REAL treat: there are TWO retro Showa-era museums. So much fun. Highly recommend. Thanks for introducing me to yet another gem in Japan. I look forward to going back there again now that international travel restrictions have been lifted.
