Kokura Castle is located in Kitakyushu, Japan. The castle was built between 1602-1608 by Hosokawa Tadaoki. It was burnt twice and finally reconstructed in 1959. In 1990 the castle was fully restored. From 2003 the castle is a direct neighbor of a modern shopping mall showing the big contrast between history and modernity.
