Today I am walking through the pretty Oxfordshire village of Kingston Lisle.
Kingston Lisle is a village about 7 miles south-east of Faringdon. The village originated as an Anglo-Saxon spring-line settlement at the foot of Blowing Stone Hill, which is part of the Berkshire Downs. A total of 31 houses were recorded in this area in the Domesday Book in 1086. The 2011 Census recorded the parish population as 225.

As one who hails from Kingston Bagpuize – yes, once Berkshire but now Oxfordshire – I doubt that you will be visiting that village soon. Sitting astride the A420 – bypassed or not – it has become but a disaster of housebuilding these days, which is quite sad – it used to lovely. No matter, we still have the Rose Revived, and the Swan at Letchlade to while away a few quiet hours.
