Vlog#1402 Thailand Is Not For Everyone. Mom is not a fan of the thai Lifestyle. She needs more time to get used to the different way of life here. So now we will move on to our next move and this is a place where she has decided to try. We will just keep moving forward.

  1. Thank you guys very much for the support and the awesome comments, I hope everybody has an awesome day today. We are on the road this morning headed for our next journey always moving forward. Notime2bsad

  2. Hi Chuck , love how Kara is Learning and moving on .
You are an inspiring son .

Ps- can we have the Thai salad dressing recipe in notime2bhungry please. I saw a lot of egg yolks .
    👍

  3. Your mum is looking 10 years younger (and that’s definitely not an exaggeration) As well as the surgery, the weight loss and her mobility seems to have improved!
Keep doing what you’re doing 💪🏻
Good luck from Northern Ireland 🍀

  4. I still think your mom should have Steppenwolfs' "Born to Be Wild" blaring from the green frog when she's out and about.

  5. Don’t worry about mum so much she is in transition stage and mum is old school I think mum would like somewhere we’re there are more Americans and foreigners maybe just outside Pattaya Jomtiem I met many retired American woman and men and maybe mum can stay there as well

  6. I lived in Greece, and during summer had some work done on a home, the worker started, and one day went out for lunch ! It ended up being a long, long lunch, about a week or so later he returned, wouldnt answer his phone, impossible to contact.. I found out 3 days later, he went fishing !!

  7. Quite simply . Age , new culture , with new foods , language . It took me several trips for 6 or 7 years before I knew I wanted to retire here . To be honest Issan wouldn’t be my first choice only because I wanted some western culture mixed in with Thai culture to ease into it . I found Chiang Mai to be more accommodating without the huge big city feel that Bangkok is . But later fell in love with Pai in Maehongson but it’s not for everyone . I give your mom a lot of credit and strong courage with some fear of the unknown but trusts her son , Chuck which you’re videos are invaluable for anyone thinking of retiring here . I’m almost 68 and would never move back to the states . It’s almost foreign to me now . And being an only child with a very healthy exuberant 88 year old mother who wants to move to Chiang Mai is just wonderful for me and my Thai partner . She’s already scoped out some care facilities in and around Chiang Mai for when she’s “ old “er lol . But of course she’s been to Thailand 4 times which helps . Best of luck to her in i Pracuap and your family

  8. Great videos Chuck. I can understand Kara not wanting to stay in your town. She’ll settle in much better when she can have her own kitchen & little house to potter around in. I think she’ll gain confidence being on her own & doing her own shopping & cooking & being around more English speakers. I do worry about her mobility but I think she would be better off wearing sandals with a heel strap rather than thongs. Good luck to you all.

  9. Hang in there Kara. Everything will work out for you. You are on “island time” now. Don’t worry— be happy!
Best wishes for your mother to get better and you have a terrific son in Chuck and loads of friends in PKK who are there for you. Life is about to be really really great especially having your own place. You will love it.
Have fun and God bless you all. 😎🍺🇹🇭🇺🇸

  10. Hi 👋 mam not long now and you will have your beautiful house you’re been waiting for the house is looking fab by the way you’re looking good lots of love to you all onwards and upwards ❤XXX

  11. Again thanks for the video. A lot of work for sure. Tell your mom shes doing great. Its tough. I have lived in several countries in the military, and its always the same. First 3 months are honeymoon and loving all the new stuff. After that the 1st year kind of sucks, you dont know what anyone is saying, they cant understand you and you want to talk. Its like being trapped inside your own body. She wants to talk a lot more to women her age. After year one I start to get settled in and enjoy. By that time you know some words, you know where to get what you need and make friends. Shoot, shes been living that Texas life for 70 yrs, you know how them Texans are. Stubborn! Kidding. In 3 months your mom moves, is essentially couch surfing, got a tattoo and had plastic surgery… thats enough to put me over the edge haha. I think she will love living next to Joe, she should give her a key when hes gone. Then she can use the pool whenever. And Mikes a Marine, he can take care of her. haha. Semper Fi.

  12. Sorry, who is the Mafia woman that owns the store near the (tutu) shop? Man I love to see her, shes always smiling and laughing on camera. You dont need words for love. Also, can you show Pages picutes behind where your mom sits? One looks like it has long hair, maybe a school pic? Great couple.

  13. Hi Chuck and Paige thank you for the video. Those ladies are the best I would love to have them as friends.

  14. I’m loving the “mom” videos. I lost my mom when I was 30….and she was 50 so I’m kind of living vicariously through you🙂. I think when she gets gets to Prachuap and has Joe , Gift, and other expats around she will feel better. Plus burger bar, timber hut , and blue monkey 😁

  15. I can't see your mum living on her own.its different when she's with you.but on her own with no one to help she wil want to go back to the us

  16. Everything takes time and that single spark that will change everything…you remember the very moment (there in Thailand) when you thought that everything would work out… don't ya??? Her moment will come too…wait and see…

  17. Chuck, what type/level of insurance is required to ride/drive the 'kiat' on the road, presumably some form of 3rd party to safeguard being sued for damages if involved in an accident?

  18. I can understand how your mother feels. I felt like that right here in the states. My brother is married to a filipina and was invited to a Thanksgiving family dinner. She invited all her Filipino friends and they all hung out in a group together speaking their language.

  19. Agreed, you are a son, first and foremost. I don't think anyone could just leave their mother to fend on her own. Keep on doing!
And…wow your mom is looking great. Losing a lot of weight will help her mobility and confidence. Carry on !

  20. Most people live their whole life in the same geographic area. It's not surprising she wants to go home and it's no reflection on Thailand.

  21. I commend you Chuck. My mom came to my wedding in Thailand, She was only here a few days and it was an ordeal. I cannot even imagine moving my mom to Thailand after spending her entire life in the states.

  22. Yeah i belive its a big change for ur mama. Just the noise get time to get used to? Good to see all is going ok and stay healty all of you? Dont stress, just enjoy your life? Stefan from Denmark

  23. Once your mum has her own space and she is comfortable and has all the conveniences like her own fridge, comfy couch and kitchen for cooking she will probably be happier. She will be close to the beach and have other Americans to talk to, and she will have her own lovely home all set up the way she likes. I am your age Chuck and I love Thailand and plan to retire there as a solo middle aged woman so your mums journey is interesting for me. I am rooting for her!!!

  24. Hi Chuck & Paige, I very like your mom, she very strong and Brave, tell her for me, her eyes looks good 👍.

  25. Hi 👋 I feel I have to send lots of love to the mafias to they have done a wonderful job looking after your mam they are very beautiful people ❤XXXXXX

  26. I'm thinking your mum's not happy Chuck, she doesn't look comfortable, maybe she's not feeling it with family especially if they don't know any English

  27. Yeah, it is really complicated to try to teach to your mom new habits. I just returned from Lloret de Mar, Spain and it´s just Europe! I had many problems with her there. But we survived eventhough we both got Covid! Keep on trying !

  28. i eat salad only when its available like at a restaurant or something. anything from chef's salad to to the typical american salad with ranch, thousand islands, to whatever type of dressing on the shelves at walmart. HOWEVER, i do not know why i love the laos/issan style salad, with the egg, veggies, some type of minced meat (i cant remember at the moment) and for some reason the dressing is very unique to the salad. it is not really sweet, it is hard to put a finger on it but i will say it is the only salad i like, but i do not know how to make it and only eat it when my mother makes some which is not very often. it is great that your mother loss some weight. if i ever get to my ideal weight again, i will be determined to stay at that weight because it is NOT easy to do so. i assume you do not live in a touristy area and you do not want your mother to be too far away to get to her if she needs you. maybe she would feel more like she fits in if she is in a very ex-pat town where she runs into many other foreigners? just curious.

  29. She will be fine in PKK. No lonelineness with Joe and Gift around 24/7.

  30. Shes very brave, I’m sure she appreciates all you do for her but difficult to immediately settle as I’m sure she will with your help.

  31. Chuck hate to say it but mom isn't looking so good here today.Kinda looks like the heat maybe was affecting her some. Hope she's ok.

  32. Heart goes out to you Chuck!! Difficult time to be juggling all these things!
Some days we wish I could be a kid again, heh!?

  33. Hello Chuck and Page , I have been watching your videos and love the way you show life everyday with your Thai in laws , the way you try and make your Mom feel comfortable in her new Country and Home is to be admired . God Bless

  34. Hello chuck ,you going to miss your mum big time ,things be ok as I would feel the same as I need bit of western style around me and food and English speaking people I can talk too and not feel so lonely,as I don't speak Thai ,but willing to learn
