D: Are you enjoying the bus ride?
M: The scenery is new and impressive!
D: Nice! We’re headed to Harumi now.
I have a Japanese friend there, and he lives in a high-rise condo with his family now.
He actually reserved the building’s guest room for us for tonight.
M: Very nice.
D: We’ll be walking to their condo from the bus station.
M: Alright.
D: We’re in Harumi now.
M: The sidewalks are very wide and walkable.
The high-rise buildings are cool.
D: Yeah, this area has been developed over the past few years and now it’s an extremely popular area to live.
M: It’s a very peaceful area, I think.
D: I spotted my friend waiting for us.
M: Really?
D: Yeah, but he’s very shy, so he won’t appear on screen.
M: No problem at all.
D: He says he’s going to take us straight to his condo so we can leave our stuff there first.

I heard that even though so many high-rise buildings have been made around this area, Tsukuda still keeps its traditional look. I think you’ll see a lot of normal houses here instead of high-rise buildings.
M: Yeah, this area seems different from others around it.
D: Look. This area is the birthplace of Tsukudani.
And this is the oldest shop here.
M: Wow, it looks like a shop with a lot of history.
D: I hear that their Tsukudani is fantastic. Let’s get some.
M: Sure.
D: They all look great.
M: The shop clerk was saying that this shop has been in business for 185 years now.

D: Now, we’re on Tsukishima Monja Street.
M: Monja?
D: I have never tried it, but Monjayaki is very famous in this area.
The family will take us to one of the restaurants to have it.
M: Great. I love trying new things!

D: My friend’s wife is making Monjayaki for us.
M: Oh, thank you so much.
D: I hear that it’s a type of Japanese traditional cuisine with various ingredients, mixed into thin wheat flour batter. It’s very similar to Okonomiyaki, but the thickness of batter differs.
First, you cook the non-liquid ingredients. Then, form it into a donut-shape.
After that, you pour the liquid batter into the center of the donut.
M: Interesting.
D: You use a special tiny spatula to eat it.
M: That’s cool.
D: My friend has invited us to a Halloween party!
M: Really!? What a surprise!
