For all the holiday’s that Russia celebrates every year, there’s always an uneventful patch each autumn. But that’s only if your check official holiday calendars, as every Batya and Babushka knows with the fall comes the most important holiday to the heart of middle aged men: The Silent Hunt.
During this time the weather is still warm and sunny, and after big rain falls the woods come alive with millions of mushrooms ripe for the taking! Some are edible like the giant White or the tasty Beryozevik, and others aren’t edible… in a traditional sense.
Will we be successful this trip? Or are we carrying too much hope in our empty baskets?
