▼About the Kawagoe Festival
The Kawagoe Festival (Kawagoe Hikawa Festival float event) is based on the “Reitaisai” held by Hikawa Shrine on October 14th, and consists of the “Shinkosai” and “float event (festival)” held immediately after. .
The “Shinkosai” began in 1648, when Matsudaira Izunokami Nobutsuna, the lord of the Kawagoe Domain at the time, donated portable shrines, lion heads, drums, etc. to Hikawa Shrine to encourage the festival.
