In my ongoing attempts to let you all know more about me, I’d like to share some surprising things you probably don’t know about me! Enjoy!
Wanted Adventure’s Video!:
Sevendust Songs:
And if you like Sevendust, check out Nonpoint! They weren’t my first, but I LOVED them in high school!:
1. I did theatre for a HUGE part of my life! If you think about this, it’s probably not a big surprise. My first show was when I was 7, I quit dance to continue it during high school, won an acting award and some scholarships and grants for college. Minored in theatre, I was the Vice President of our student theatre company during my Junior year and then the President during my senior year. I’ve directed and produced shows! I’ve even earned my spot in the International Thespian Society.
2. I had an incredible fear of fire when I was young. So I don’t know if this started because a girl at daycare told me she was going to light me on fire, or if she told me that because of my fear of fire, but I do remember my elementary school making us watch movies on fire safety and how to escape a burning building … and me started to cry and run out of the assembly screaming. From then on, they sent me to the nurse’s office during fire safety assemblies.
3. I majored in CSI and have looked at countless pictures of crime scenes and dead bodies! People were always surprised by my choice of major for my Bachelor’s, but I loved it and was damn good at it! That path in my life didn’t work out, but now I’m glad it didn’t.
4. I had blonde hair. I’m allergic to hair dye! Which I was always kind of sad about because I would LOVE to change my hair color like every month! But alas, it’s not to be. However, when I discovered that I was NOT allergic to bleach! Well, I went blonde. I started with some highlights to lighten stuff up and just kept going.
5. I sucked my thumb until I was 13! As soon as it started affecting my speech, they put me into speech therapy so it didn’t get bad. And that knowledge of how to hold your mouth or where to put your tongue when you speak really helps me teach here in Japan today! They thought it was going to affect my teeth too, buttttt….
6. I’ve never had braces! I actually had a big gap in my teeth when I was young and sucking my thumb closed that gap and actually helped my teeth. Now this tooth is crooked because I didn’t have insurance and couldn’t afford to get my wisdom teeth removed for a long time so my wisdom teeth pushed my other teeth together and forward and cause this tooth to slowly twist. But that’s not from sucking my thumb!
7. My first concert was SevenDust and I crowd surfed! Did you guys know I love rock and heavy metal music! I’ve been to a ton of rock concerts including seeing ADTR, Skindred, Fly Leaf and many more. I’ve even see KoRn multiple times and got to meet some of the band members with my little sister, but my first concert ever was SevenDust! If you haven’t heard of them, I’ll include some of my old favourites in the description box below.
8. I’m a huge science geek! In high school, I participated in the Physics Olympics Club and even made an apparatus out of 2 pieces of paper and a foot of tape that kept my raw egg intact even after I dropped it from the second floor of our school! Today, Joe and I still watch a ton of science-related videos on YouTube. Our favourite channels included: BecauseScience, VSauce, the Infographics show and many more.
9. I got attacked by a dog when I was 8 and got over 50 stitches in my face! When I’m not wearing make up you can see the scars on my face, but as I’ve aged, it hasn’t been that bad. You may notice, however, that my face isn’t very symmetrical and my lips are lopsided because of it. They actually messed up my stitches too. They were too tight so my skin grew over them instead of in between them so they had to cut my face open again to get them out.
10. I got my first piercing when I was 14! Well, technically my mom pierced my earlobes when I was an infant, but that wasn’t my choice. When I was 14, I got the top of my belly button pierced, when I was 17, I got my nose pierced and got my first tattoo, and when I was 18 I got the bottom of my belly button pierced in Florida on vacation with my friends. I got my tragus pierced in Vegas when I was 24 and then immediately got four more lobe piercings. I also had my cartilage pierced and the webbing under my tongue pierced, but let those close up.
I hope this was a fun video for you guys! What was the biggest surprise here for you!

What surprised you the most?! Anything?! EVERYTHING?! Tell meeee! 😁😁😁
What a great video. I thought the dog attack was surprising, but then I remembered my beagle is an asshole. The thumb sucking, though! 👀
Must say your musical intrests supprized me most. I had you figured for a Country Western type. Oh well. One of my favorites is " TYR". There a Pagan metal band. not my tradition but still very good music. 2 more favorits of mine are Blackmoresnight. And a scottish band called " The silly wizard's ". They are just plain funny. Any way thank you for sharing Sonny. Be well.😁
The silly wizards do live up to there name. Verry fun loving music. Allways picks me up out of a slump.
i would say the most surprising thing is that you dont have a fear of dogs after such a traumatic experience but i guess that ties into the whole CSI thing
pretty lady
how bad was ur belly button piercing?
Haha, snap, belly button piercing twins! That and the Forensic science surprised me the most, i assumed that since your MSc was biology/animal related, your BSc was too. Cool though, really interesting i bet. Also, Hi Penny in the background 😘 lol.
Hi Sonnie, I love your videos. It's good to see you looking so well again, you have such a wonderful zest for life, it's infectious!
I'm not surprised that you have a history of acting, as your diction, and the general way you project yourself all lends itself to having been professionally trained or tutored.
I am surprised that you have or have had so many piercings, they don't really seem to go with your character, especially the tongue one.
I suppose you are perhaps a contradiction in some ways which makes
you all the more fascinating.
I love it that you are so open especially about your health issues, which I am sure is a great help and inspiration to other people with similar problems. I look forward to learning more about you in the coming weeks. 🙂
The heavy metal !
CSI and Rock music? There is a way to combine the two 🙂 You would also need a pair of shades though 🙂
Ooo, I've seen A Day To Remember too! I was surprised by your music taste. Good stuff!
Most surprising for me is love of hard rock and metal. That's awesome. I wouldn't have pecked you for a metal head who goes in the pit. And secondly is all the piercings … Which actually makes sense pairing it with the metal scene. Bodymods are very popular – at least amongst metal heads in Denmark. Which I've spend a lot of time being one of and also played prog. metal and hard rock in bands as a drummer since I was 16. And I do love me some Korn. I've never gotten into Sevendust though. But I do understand why they so popular. I didn't know, that they've been around for so long.
And I am amazed about those dog bites – How well they've healed. I would never have guessed that you have had such a serious accident with a mad dog.
👋🏻 Sonnie.. Your a really 😎🐥nothing overwhelmingly surprises, apart from the Dog attack! A beagle🤔 that's the last breed I'd of expected you to a say, they seem the most docile of creatures. Hope you don't mind me asking, was it put to sleep as a result? Interesting facts honey, learned a bit more about Sonnie behind the camera 😉
Uh, ohh, happy belated birthday. And welcome to the 30's club.🤘
I'm surprised that sucking your thumb actually helped with your teeth! When I was around 4 years old, my parents had to try different things to get me to stop (like putting socks on my hands when I went to bed) because my dentist could see that it was effecting my teeth. I started the whole braces process when I was in third grade. 🙁
I was surprised to hear that you like metal music. It was neat to hear more about you. What are your plans for say 5 years from now? Such as finish your degree, move back to Europe, have kids, etc.?
How far back do you go in your music? What about the true greats? Metallica, Maiden, ACDC etc?
This is such a great video! You look radiant. I knew more of these from before. The beagle one? That's so surprising! HAPPY 30TH THOUGH, which also kind of surprised me but I knew you were a 1988 gal so I don't know why! Miss you!
Looks like it some others wanted it too, but u should do a video on the jewelry u wear in the top and bottom belly piercings. U probably have some cool combinations of rings.
Rock music surprised me me. Great video
I thought you might have been more of a Country Music kind of woman….didn't want to say girl there. I'm not that surprised about the thespian thing though and said to you before that I reckon you could make a career out of voice over work.
I got bitten on the arse by a German shepherd as a kid and sill have a moon crescent scar on one cheek to show for it. It's made me wary because of it though and then other day I looked out of my window and saw a German shepherd doing a shit in my garden, so I shouted out….
"Get your arse out of my garden and take your fcuking sheep with you too!"
Sonnie a metal head? That was a big surprise, specially considering the crap music that accompain your videos 😉
You could do a video with a metal background, say an idyllic walk in a Japanese garden or temple with Slipknot Psychosocial as the soundtrack.
Wth ur 30 u look like 25
I will listen to the music. But i probably wont change my views on music. And yes i would be in a club like the olympics. I would be best in a music club or general knowledge club or a geography club.
My favourite music. But i can name it pretty quickly if i recognise it. Most before the vocals but some cant do that.
