I ended up on Japan’s TV Asahi’s Network “Good Morning” show! How and Why did it happen? What did I have to do? Appearing on Japanese TV for the first time representing tourists that are unable to enter the country! I hope I was able to represent all tourists and that my statements were good! We all want to enter Japan after all!

  1. did your comment about group tourism being similar to north korea made it into the final cut of the interview?

  2. We have not been deterred from returning to Japan, though with 5 children we are aware that the many apps, tests, and masking restrictions will complicate the situation so we may end up delaying our trip for some time. We were also surprised to discover that our child who turned 13 would require his own cellphone, as he needed to be tracked separately like every adult.

  3. Well done
Delivered a strong message in a soft manner. I think you'll get lots of chuckles from the Japanese viewers seeing you with your bandana on. Good sport you are.
The network obviously didn't like your references to NKorea, since I don't recall seeing your response to that topic on the original video.
I think the best message point TV chose to air was the boost to the economy by letting free tourism commence. I am going to Tokyo in July for the first time in 2+ yrs, on a hubby VISA. I'm was usually there 2-3 times per yr, pre covid, been tough to see my wife leave for Japan (2020-2021) without me.

  4. I would say to the Japanese government, enough is enough stop experimenting just fully reopen after taking the precautions like the rest of the world!

  5. This is an absolute win. We’ve got such respect for you Ninja Monkey, your passion and love for Japan and offering your amazing, informative content to us for free. Thanks Ninja Moneky, and keep staying positive. ❤️

  6. I'm glad you were honest and fair with you answering questions. I agreed with all your answers. I live in Thailand and they've fully reopened now and even introduced many new laws and benefits to attract more foreign tourists. Japan has definitely tarnished its reputation in my eyes, even though I still intend to go as my partner is from there. Cheers Nathan!

  7. Thanks for the updates! Last year we did a gamble and booked for July, unfortunately we had to cancel and move it to next year. I'll keep watching your videos, waiting and hoping for the epic video when Japan finally open its borders for tourists.🐒🍌

  8. I think you did an amazing job 👏glad you let it all out , I won't feel welcome going there any time soon Gov don't want tourists going there it's a fake style opening just for show

  9. Been waiting since the first semester of this year for the tourists to open up for individual travellers. Although they started for group tourist hopefully they will allow individual tourism soon..
Thanks for the information 🙂 new subscriber here 😊

  10. It was a great opportunity that you had, I hope it will be seen by others. And if you ever get a video of that interview please post it! 👌🏼

  11. NM, you did swell. I'm sooo glad you made your (our) feelings known about those group tours They remind me too much of what the ships do.

  12. Japan is being too conservative. Either let people in or not let people in at all. I kind of lost interest when they started doing organize tourism similar to North Korea. A lot of my friends changed their destination when Japan started their organized tourism. Not a good look on Japan.

  13. Very cool that you were interviewed by TV Asahi. I think Japan will open eventually but I hope they wait till Spring 2023 to fully open to catch up from pandemic economic issues. I understand why Japan is slow and I do not fault them. I think because it is really important to Japanese society that things move efficiently and approach takes focus to be so detailed oriently in hospitality and work. So things need to have a order. One thing I noticed in my past view visits in the last decade was major parts of Shibuya and other towns had a lot of trash. I think it is because influx of tourism. So, I think it is good Japan takes it time. Just another perspective from someone who goes there regularly since 2005. 🙂

  14. You nailed what my responses would have been to those questions. I was last in Japan in Oct 2019 and have wanted to go back to spend three to four months taking Japanese lessons. Not because I want to work there but to more fully experience Japan so not interested in JPTL courses. So you did a great job in my opinion.
