Japanese Explorer, I wonder if it would help to tell them that you're also filming to promote and support local and small business in Japan or maybe a specific area in Japan at the time of your filming, all on your YouTube channel. This is what you're already doing, but maybe some stores and restaurants would be even more open to you filming if you told them this directly. Just a suggestion. 🙂
