Commentary
The US Grant is a historically rich hotel in the middle of San Diego’s gaslamp quarter. The property is incredibly interesting and learning about the history can occupy visitors for hours. The weekend Concierge guided tours are fun. The food and drinks at Grant Grill are excellent. The property’s location in the gaslamp quarter is very convenient for those wanting to explore downtown San Diego or go to the beach. This property receives my highest recommendation.
Our May 2022 Reservation
The room rate for a Superior 1 King [base] room was ~$350/night. We offset some of the cost with our American Express Platinum’s $200 Fine Hotels and Resorts credit. We were upgraded to a Grand Deluxe 1 King upon check in due to having Marriott Titanium status.

This hotel looks really nice! Thoughtful, comfortable, beautiful, sweet with story! No wonder it’s luxury hotel!
Another awesome review! I want to go visit there now!
Hahahah that contractor who just TOOK the whole time capsule 😂 but real talk this hotel is BEAUTIFUL OH MY WHAT!!!!! and they have a karaoke room?! You already KNOW I'm all about that!!! Wowowow, so many cool things here – thank you for sharing! Great slo-mo on the "Men Only" policy + change plaques, those hallways are eerily long lol, it's cool that the price of the art in each room is negotiated with the artist in real-time instead of having a set price from the hotel/artist already, and I love that huge curved window in the bathroom/the overall bathroom aesthetic 😮
That ball room and those treats also look so BEAUTIFUL AND DELICIOUS aksjdaklxx
Super cool about the secret service standard-accommodating rooms, and I'm surprised that Comic Con was hosted there of all places! TIL. Thanks again for the tour & tidbits!!! Love that you got to stay there, it looks majestic and beautiful
