  1. Just commenting to show some my appreciation! This channel is one of those hidden gems that needs more love!

  2. Was in Interac employee three years ago. Just thought you might want to know that technically ALTs don’t receive “sick days.” They are given the minimum ten days of paid leave. Then five of those days are preassigned by the company (usually over a holiday) and then, depending on when you need to reapply for your visa, you will need to use two days to drop off and pick up your visa (maybe half days if you’re lucky) the last three days of paid leave are theirs to use however they like. But since Interac has no official sick days, they tell them to save those three days in case they get sick. Keep in mind that if someone gets the flu you are required to not come to school until you have been fever free for two full days. Most ALTs get sick and have a large percentage of those days go unpaid. The issue with that video is not about the Job an ALT does or what kind of people are ALTs, it’s about how this company is constantly bending and testing the boundaries of what they can get out of their employees. Also you were a little off about what a new ALT makes monthly, you said possibly ¥200,000. That is before taxes, healthcare, possibly a rental car, phone, and apartment that the company found for them. They also give loans for any ALT that came over and maybe couldn’t afford the plane tickets, key money, or any other costs of relocating to Japan. They will deduct that amount from their monthly pay as well. On average a newly ALT will bring in less that ¥100,000 every month. I think it’s awesome that you guys are talking about topics like this it’s great to raise awareness. Please keep making videos that cover topics concerning dispatch companies! I’d love to hear more from the foreign community about how they have overcome all the challenges of living abroad and working for companies like Interac.
