MALAYSIAN STREET FOOD IN SANDAKAN, SABAH!! I’m on the island of Borneo to discover it’s rich biodiversity and unique culinary scene! This place is famous for its seafood so I’m taking you for a 24 hour seafood feast in the city of Sandakan here in Malaysia.

Starting things off at Labuk bay where you can get up close and personal with the famous proboscis monkeys. Next I’m off to taste ikan bakar or grilled seafood at a local joint called Mama Resepi’s. After a big seafood lunch I went to visit another one of Borneo’s famous animals the sun bear. Your best chance to see them is at the sun bear conservation centre (https://www.bsbcc.org.my/index.html). Ending my day with a Cantonese inspired seafood dinner at Empire Seafood restaurant!

  2. Sun Bears are so small because they lived in hot climate. Empire Restaurant definitely good recommendation for seafood.

  3. Sabah no longer in malaysia. The Sulu n philipine took over …. GOOD RIDDANCE …..MALAYSIA JUST CONTAINED 13States hahahaha

  4. Hi Luke, the bitter taste from your first bite could probably be from stomach cavity part of the Ikan Belais (Rabbit Fish). Personally, I'd skip eating this part of this particular fish. Anyway, I'm glad you covered the Sim Sim Food Court – It's one of my favourite spot to eat in Sandakan too.

  5. 7:04 the bitterness you're tasting is from the belly of the fish where the gut normally sits. Good to scrape the dark inner lining of that lower area before eating.

  10. Malaysia has the best spicy food there. I really love the taste of the grilled fish. It mixed with Sambal which is so spicy but not that spicy. I love malaysian food! Truly asia!

  14. What a fantastic video! I love all the wildlife, it makes Borneo so unique. I think you nailed it when you said that seafood place seemed Cantonese. Those crab balls are my favorite dim sum dish from when we lived in Shenzhen. My mouth was watering watching your video.

  15. Those crab claws are available in most Chinese takeaways in the UK.

    Yours looks much better though!
