Tokyo’s Automated, Driverless Yurikamome Train.｜Shinbashi – Toyosu section｜#japan #train #solo
Yurikamome, which opened in 1995, is a new transportation system that connects central Tokyo such as Shinbashi and Toyosu with the waterfront sub-centers of Odaiba and Ariake.
The original name of the line was the Tokyo Waterfront New Transit Rinkai Line, but the nickname “Yurikamome” has become popular among the public. From the windows of the Yurikamome, you can see famous landmarks such as the Tokyo Skytree and Rainbow Bridge, and one of the attractions of the line is that it is lined with tourist attractions such as Palette Town and the headquarters of Fuji Television Network, Inc.
Unlike trains and monorails, Yurikamome trains have the same structure as automobiles, with four wheels and rubber tires per car, so they can climb up and down steep hills without difficulty. In addition, since the trains are operated automatically by computer, there are no drivers or conductors on board.
