If you’ve visited Japan, you might have noticed the fake plastic food located outside almost every restaurant and cafe to advertise the dishes they have on offer… 🤔 What you may not know is it’s an industry worth approximately $130 million AUD! These mouth-wateringly delicious ‘fake foods’ are known as ‘sampuru’ and are meticulously crafted by hand, with the imitation foods often taking many days to make and costing up to 10 times the real food they represent. (An intricate tray of plastic sushi will set you back a whopping $700 AUD!) Photo by @rei_tyn. #VisitJapanAU #Art
