スムースな“ドライビング・ビュー”を体感。サーフィン、海水浴などマリンスポーツのメッカで、どこか異国の雰囲気も漂うビーチライン沿いのリゾートエリア「湘南」「伊豆」。国道134号線から135、136号線へと2つのエリアを繋ぐ“海岸通り”は、時代を超えた定番ドライブコース。フロントガラスの向こうには、海と砂浜の広がる景色と、通り沿いのレストラン、ショップ、駐車場、看板･･･などメモリアル・アイテムの数々。映画、音楽、小説など多くの名作が生まれた、様々な人々の記憶にリンクするその道を、ただひたすら走る。葉山、稲村ヶ崎、七里ヶ浜、辻堂、茅ヶ崎と湘南ビーチラインをノンストップで走り抜け、曲がりくねった伊豆のビーチラインへ。途中、昭和の香りが残る「熱海」「下田」の温泉街、満開に咲き誇る「河津町」の早咲き桜、隠れビーチ・スポット「入田浜」に寄り道し、旅の終りに辿り着いたのは奥石廊「あいあい岬」の展望台駐車場。エンジンを切ると、そこには真紅に染まる夕景が拡がり、やがてゆっくりと水平線に沈んでいった。
