During my time in LA, I met up with actor and rapper Omar Gooding to teach him all about Indian food! Come with me as Omar Gooding tries Indian food for the first time in Los Angeles, California!

Watch AM Radio on Amazon Prime Video:

If you’re around my age, you probably grew up watching Omar Gooding, from his hosting gig on Nickelodeon’s “Wild & Crazy Kids,” to his role as Mo on “Smart Guy” and his breakout role as Sweetpea in the movie “Baby Boy.” It was an honor hanging out with him—he’s super down to earth and hilarious!

This would be Omar’s very first time eating Indian food, so I was pumped to show him the ropes. He’s not big into spice, so I’d go a little easy on him in terms of heat! Inside, we met Angat, whose wife is expecting!

We’d be eating a thali, which is a huge platter containing smaller bowls of different Indian dishes. It would include gobi manchurian, a samosa, chana masala, aloo “Kobe (for Kobe Bryant),” butter chicken, chicken tikka masala, dal, saag paneer, and more! We’d also have garlic naan, biryani, chapati, and raita. It smelled so good!

We started with the chicken tikka masala, which was so creamy and made with tender breast meat. Next was the butter chicken, followed by the dal makhani, which is made with black lentils. It’s earthy, tasty, and really healthy. The dal tadka is a mushier yellow dal and is also amazing!

The aloo gobi contains potatoes and cauliflower, and the shahi paneer comes in a rich, yellow gravy made with cream and tomatoes. It’s very creamy! Next was the saag paneer, which was like a creamy spinach dip! The chana masala had a slight kick and was also very tasty!

Then, we talked a bit about Omar’s movie “A.M. Radio,” which is available on Tubi! It touches on lots of important topics and is a beautifully told story!

Next, the tandoori chicken arrived! We tried the tangy and sour pickles, the aloo samosa, and then their amazing drink made with masala water. It was a little strong!

The tandoori chicken was smoky, tender, and juicy! We followed that with the gobi manchurian, which is an Indo-Chinese cauliflower dish that kind of reminds me of popcorn chicken. It’s unbelievable and is coated in an incredible sauce!

Finally, we jumped on the king of dishes, the lamb biryani! It’s insane on its own, and then we added some raita to make it creamy. You can also mix in the other curries as well! It’s so flavorful. Each dish was better than the last!

Then, Omar and I left out to go have some tacos at his taco spot!

  1. Man I have a lot of respect and love for you watching first time. You are doing justice by learning and know what and how to eat 🔥🔥❤️❤️❤️🙌🏻

  2. It's statistically impossible that chicken tikka masala was "invented" in Britain …it's just what they would like you to believe & nothing more than good old cultural appropriation and theft …..think about it yourself ….Indian food is soo vast , do you really think no one made "chicken tikka masala" in India in the thousands of years of cooking ?

  3. Again , there is no evidence that biryani was invented by Mughals…Also an essential to biryani , is the yogurt or curd that is eaten along with it .

An additional give away that Biryani is an adaptation of it's veg counterpart , "pulao" , i.e. rice with veggies, is that
Ghee & non veg , especially beef , are to not be mixed together , as it's not good for the human system/health, but biryani uses ghee or clarified butter with non veg as done for the veg pulao.

So you can see where they got the biryani recipe from , from the veg pulao. Right ?

Plus even yogurt & rice combination is native to India or more particularly south India.

So don't believe everything you read on wiki coz especially in the case of India or Hindu content , there is simply too much bs written ,
so as to put people off from exploring India or Hinduism or Dharma.

At the very least you should avoid endorsing information that lacks credibility or common sense.

Additionally , do you think , that some people , either poor or simply those who forgot to go shopping , never , in the History of India or Bharat , throw left over veggies & rice & spices & let it cook with a lid & had it with yogurt …., coz someone out too much spice in the veg pulao ?

So all these claims of chiken tikka masala or biryani , backed by nothing more than stories , are really nothing more than stories .

Similar stories can be found for sciences that were stolen from India/Bharat , along with fashion and so on … FFS they even invented a (Aryan Invasion) theory to try & steal the scriptural language Sanskrit and present it as western & failed miserably at it.

So do think such things thru before endorsing them … That's my request .
Sorry for the lecture / argument…

  4. Watched many videos.. Just wondering if you pay for the food or is it on the house for the review?

  5. Try south Indian food Also ❤️❤️Lots of Love from India Brothers 🙏❤️❤️🙏

  6. The reason why it is called tikka masala is because of the reddish colour. Literally tikka means red mark or sign, as in swastika etc Tikka also pronounced as tilaka or tilak when referring to a red elongated Hindu marking on male forehead. The dish was basically named after its red colour, however with so many variations and especially healthier ones, it's colour isn't was red nowadays.

  7. My mouth is watering. 🤤 I love Indian food–crave it, but my friends don't like it. 🙁 I'm gradually getting my best friend's taste buds oriented to more spicy foods.

  8. I must tell you guys..
Every Indian dish is like taste bomb in its own way..
Eat Indian Cuisine at your own risk..
Once your tastebuds got active there's no way back .. 😂 💯
    Love from India 🇮🇳

  9. Dude, you are like the brand ambassador of Indian cuisine . ❤️❤️..The way you explain Indian food is so accurate and just brilliant… Loads of Love from India 🇮🇳🇮🇳❤️❤️

  10. David dude never but ur Naan on the table ..its not Indian way of eating. hope u understand and are not offended.

  11. David, another nice video! just an FYI – Indians tend to order 1 or max 2 dishes and fill their tummy w/ accompaniment i.e. naan or rice 🙂
