On September 16-17, 2022, my wife and I and her parents went to Kamikochi, Japan. Kamikochi is located on the border of Nagano and Gifu prefectures, in the Hida mountain range within the Japanese Alps. To preserve the rich natural environment, tourists take buses or cabs to get there. The temperature is very comfortable, unlike Tokyo with its severe lingering summer heat. Melting snow water flows into the river, which is very cold and clear. Walking along the hiking trail, we arrive at the Okumiya shrine of Hotaka Shrine. There you will see Myojin Pond, a very mysterious sight with a torii gate in the middle of the pond.
On the second day, we took the ropeway to view the mountains. The blue mountains in the distance, seen from a high altitude, are fantastic. I recommend the footbath at the ropeway station. It will heal you from the fatigue of the trip.
My wife and her parents are very sweet people. I love to see them enjoying themselves. I want my family to be healthy forever.

Looks like a lovely place. It's been on my list of places to visit for a while, and I check the webcam at the Kappa bridge most mornings when I arrive at work – the clouds often look amazing flowing over the mountains and it puts me in a good mood. 🙂
My favourite photos were the shrine and the sunlit plant with the lens flair.
The inn looked amazing too! I really liked the calligraphy on the gold background, and all the nature just outside the window. A private onsen too, I'd be quite happy to stay in the room all day! 🙂
