A guided walking tour of the Downtown Berkeley neighborhood just next to the Univeristy of California at Berkeley campus. While we walk along Shattuck Avenue and Center Street I’ll show you all of the trendy restaurants, shops, and museums that you’ll find in this very eclectic neighborhood. Definitely worth a visit if you’re exploring the greater San Francisco Bay area.

  1. I am from Portland, Oregon, and I just visited Salt Lake City for the first time. I was amazed how clean it was and how parking was still free for the first hour downtown, at the Capitol, in the entertainment districts, etc. I felt like I was at an American city that was 25 years ago. Everything was quaint and nice. I plan to visit again next spring. Your video was great to watch – looks pretty nice, but those Parking fees are quite something.

  2. Such a great video! I just forwarded it to my stepsister, who may be moving back to Northern California.

  3. Hello Chris,
Great walk video once more…. I see a lot of public transport, why is renting a car in Los Angeles area recommended? I'm a European and used to our busy and not so social traffic here, will it be easy for someone like me to drive in the LA area?
Thanks once more, have a great day!
    Greetings from the Netherlands

  4. Less homeless on your walk than normal. If you venture outside that area, it gets grimier with more homeless and mentally ill on the streets. But the University of California at Berkeley is a world class educational institution.

  5. Plenty of food to sustain the hectic brain activities.
P.S. That β€˜crazy dancing guy’ used to be a mathematics and philosophy double major at Berkeley. 🀣
    Great walking tour! πŸ‘πŸ»πŸ‘πŸ»

  6. Berkeley looks amazing! I like all the different restaurant options available. I didn't get a chance to check it out on my two trips to San Francisco, but I'll need to go there on my next trip to the Bay Area.

  7. Ah, my hometown. Central downtown has changed a lot. That McDonald's on University and Shattuck has been there for at least 40 years. Thanks for doing such a great job on this video.

  8. It was a family friendly video until 2:52 πŸ˜‚. So many great places to explore. Thanks Chris! Did you have a chance to make it to Zachary’s, the pizzeria?

  9. Hi Chris, I was just in the San Francisco Bay Area last week, I was remembering your video on the pier mall, hope you can make one for Alcatraz, really enjoyed it ! Greetings fro Mexico

  10. MISLEADING – Downtown Berkeley has a large homeless populations. As you walk down the streets you were on later in the day you have to make sure you don’t step in pee or poop from the homeless. Berkeley is in the process of building several homeless centers on the surrounding blocks which will only attract more homeless. Berkeley government would rather offer free shelter to the homeless than offer making assisting people to buy homes and have a safe city. Something else not mentioned, Berkeley has a lot of violent crime, one of the worst cities in the country

  11. DIDN{T MENTION some of those restaurants are closing. There are just to many homeless and criminals committing violent crimes people just don’t want to be there. It’s dangerous and unsafe.

  12. Didn't know anything about Berkeley until I saw this video! Thank you, Chris, for introducing another interesting town in California, college towns are definitely underrated! But at least that leaves those towns for us explorers πŸ˜€
