The Daegu, South Korea Monorail, opened in 2015, is a good example of a modern, high capacity monorail system. It was built by Hitachi and is fully automated with the use of safety monitoring staff. The entire line is elevated and has 3 impressive bridges.

This video was a bit overwhelming to edit due to the shear amount of footage I took when I visited in 2019. I’m sorry for taking such a long time to put this out.

  1. I couldn't finish it but what splendor & cinematography! =) I'm sure Kim's got a big ol' smile on his face in his grave if he saw this. Love the various angles of the system and how you added different details to the views. Awesome system! Yeah, those bridges are really unique; the various methods of cable-stay construction plus the different column designs.

  2. Good video. It’s six years old but the vehicles and stations still looks brand new.

Interesting at 8:17 the logo for the monorail shows a five car train, not the actual three cars.

  3. Nice video – a good balance between train-focussed and scenery focussed shots. I also find it soothing to watch because of the way the trains seem to glide effortlessly along.

  4. OMG I want to go there so bad, I love South Korea. But sadly, my parents won't let me as someone who's turning 18. They're very strict about South Korea. I wish I can go
