The beautiful nature of New England in the fall made this state ideal and very popular for photo and video filming. But it is the local architecture that is the highlight of the region. Built-in the saltbox style, these houses are a unique example of monuments, the likes of which are hard to find anywhere else in the United States. Salt-cellar houses are characterized by the presence of a roof with two different slopes: very steep and completely flat. As a rule, these are wooden frame structures, two-story in front and one-story at the back. The chimney, located in the center of the roof ridge, on a gentle slope, is also a typical feature of saltbox houses.
