Ōgibashi Lock Gate locates in the middle of residential area in Koto-ku, Tokyo.
Locks, interms of the water navigation, are facilities used for raising and lowering boats, ships and other watercraft between stretches of water of different levels on river and canal waterways. The facilities are common in the regions that include rivers, lakes and canal in their territories. A well known example is the ones at Canal de Panamá.
The water level at Ōgibashi Lock changes upto 3m (9.8ft). It is one of the new tourist attractions that people can visit by boat or kayak tours.
扇橋閘門（おうぎばしこうもん）は東京都の江東区（こうとうく）の住宅街（じゅうたくがい）にある閘門（こうもん）です。
閘門とは水の高さを調節（ちょうせつ）して船が通ることを可能（かのう）にする施設（しせつ）で、水のエレベーターと言えます。川や、湖（みずうみ）、水路（すいろ）が多いところで、よく見ることができます。また、パナマ運河（うんが）のような有名なところも閘門を使っています。
扇橋閘門では水位（すいい）が3mくらい変わります。遊覧船（ゆうらんせん）やカヤック、カヌーのツアーで訪れる（おとずれる）ことができます。
