Shimada city Sakura 大井川
Shimada is located in the middle of Shizuoka Prefecture.
The Oi River flows from the Minami Alps, which is an area recognized as a UNESCO GEOPARK. The mighty river runs through the heart of Shimada City.
In the Edo era, a well-known phrase stated “Even horses can cross Hakone-Hachiri, but the Oi-river is hard to cross in any way“.
I highly recommend visiting this city during spring as you can enjoy the spectacular view as shown in this video.

It is a delightful cherry blossom spot where the scenery can be enjoyed the steam train as it passes through the cherry blossoms.. 😍 i wish be there to enjoy that rare view from both inside the steam train and outside.. 🥺
