We arrived in Cape Breton, Nova Scotia a few days before learning Hurricane Fiona was heading this way. This video is a collection of random clips we filmed over the course of 3 days as the storm was approaching, during the storm, and later, in the aftermath. Once post-tropical storm Fiona hit, we lost power, so we weren’t aware of the extent of the damage and the devastation it caused to many communities in Atlantic Canada.
We’re going to be donating to the Canadian Red Cross who are offering humanitarian assistance in affected areas (the Canadian government is matching donations made for Hurricane Fiona if you’re inclined to donate), and aside from that, I think the best thing we can do is help support local tourism in Atlantic Canada once it’s safe to do so. https://donate.redcross.ca/page/114083/donate
We’re grateful to the people we met in Cape Breton – for all the advice, warmth, and hospitality they showed us during this time. The community spirit here is on another level and we were made to feel like family during this natural disaster.

Glad you guys are staying safe! Friends in PEI are still without power or water, it's pretty grim in some areas!
Hi guys please stay safe., my island puerto rico was so badly hit.
I thought you guys were in Alberta?
A hurricane in Canada what is next a blizzard in Florida?
I didnβt know nickel back played Jim Croce.π
Watching this from SWFL hoping Hurricane Ian isn't going to be as terrible as they are saying. This was reassuring to watch…even though I'm sure it was tough without power for days. I was without power for five days after Hurricane Irma and that was NO FUN!
I had you in Argentina! Safer there
So glad you are safe. Found your video really interesting. Hope all who suffered through this hurricane are safe now
Take care. Stay safe guys!
π
We live just down the highway near St Peters. Would have loved to have met you while you were here. Lots of Gold River hockey memories with my son and my husband and I have been talking about the trips you working on in Argentina! We live just across the road from the ocean and other than a couple days without power we got very lucky. Hoping that folks in Sydney, Nfld, Puerto Rico, DR and any other affected areas are able to recover soon.
Man, if you guys are still in NS and have some time, we would like to invite you guys over for dinner or lunch or whatever. We're in Halifax if you're interested.
Glad you guys are OK. Thanks for filming. Even on the outer edges of a major storm/hurricane it is scary. And you don't always think of the people and services who work through it all to make others OK. It shows how people can come together and try the best they can to get through it all.
There are always dogs in your videos!!!!What a blessing!
Weβre waiting for Ian at the moment. Should hit tomorrow.
Do you take power banks with you as you travel around? They have really been a boost to us!
What an adventure. We watched other YouTubers in a van make their way out of Cabot Trail to seek shelter in the Annapolis Valley on Friday. Interesting to see your side of the event.
Why didnβt you filmed the complimentary dinner?
My AT&T out of Ohio has unlimited data in Canada… Unless the cell towers there were down…
Watching on the news it was devastating in PEI and rest of Atlantic Canada ..God Bless all

Cape Breton here- I hate to be a negative nelly, but the Canadian Red Cross and the "government assistance" is a complete sham…the situation here is absolutely devastating, a lot of us have lost absolutely everything, and the "aid" that has claimed to arrive has just been photo ops for government officials. If anyone actually passes through the "application" for the red cross financial aid (or any aid), it does not even begin to get processed until January of next year….the community needs help now. The basic survival needs are not being met- food, water, fuel…everything is scarce at best and the news is making it seem as though "help has arrived". I am here and can tell you this is not the case. We have been left to fend for ourselves, and it has come to essentially begging the international community for help. The private citizens are receiving no aid- the government and large corporations are using this catastrophe as a means to "cash in" on our misery. We are alone and need help. There is a dog sanctuary in the community that has been utterly destroyed, and there has been a Go Fund Me set up in order to try and get them on their feet. I am posting the link for the campaign anywhere and everywhere I can to get the word out….Cape Breton is NOT OKAY and the help is not here. Please, it takes a lot to come to this, seeking out help from strangers, but it is overwhelming right now and we need people to care. Please, if you are able, take some time to at least read the Go Fund Me, and donate if you can. The funding needs to go straight to the people, these organisations are not being honest with their work and it is heartbreaking to be a part of it. Thanks for reading this if you have made it this far, God Bless and Take Care of each other.

I was surprised to see this video popup. Accidental storm chasers–kudos to you, fellow guests and the Dundee resort for how you weathered that. I wish Iwas i was staying at that resort, I was in Halifax and in typical don't-plan-for-anything fashion I had a miserable 40 hours without power. But at least we were sparred the hit that Cape Breton, PEI and others received, and the storm surge Port-aux-Basques got slammed with–wicked there. Looks like Florida is getting slammed awfully bad now.
I'm in Maryland right now and we are preparing for the remanants of Hurricane Ian after it hits NC and SC next.
Lucky you guys slept thru the entire hurricane. It was so bad in Truro, we lost mega trees. Almost 1 week later and 1000's still without power. Glad you're safe. CB got slammed.
Come back and see us again! Thanks for your donation to the Red Cross.
Didn't look too bad?
Great timing π I got power back on Friday…was expecting to still be out, so…can't complain. Quite an experience, lots of damage, but not to house, so again, no complaints! Phew… So glad it's been warm. Tho a couple chillier days coming, and still 23k customers out. Yikes.
Knocked our power out for 9 days.
