This is Siena, an ancient Tuscan town which has become a UNESCO World Heritage site. It has a ton of amazing things to offer… One of which being DELICIOUS ITALIAN STREET FOOD!

For breakfast, we went deep into Siena’s historical centre to Gino Cacino di Angelo for their famous paninis. We ordered their eggplant specialty panino, and their porchetta panino. It was a perfect breakfast! You can also order amazing charcuterie boards and a wide variety of Italian wines. After a little sightseeing around the medieval squares, we stopped at a local caffe for a double espresso (doppio espresso). For lunch, we went to a super local “hole-in-the-wall” restaurant called Osteria Il Grattacielo dal 1840. For lunch here, there is no menu and you order either the “cold” lunch (Tuscan cured meats & cheeses) or the “hot” lunch (pasta). We both opted for the hot lunch, and had two different kinds of tagliatelle – one with pesto and the other with pomodoro and cheese. We washed it all down with the house wine, which was the best wine we had in all of Italy. For dessert we tried a unique treat called Cantucci e Vin Santo. The cantucci is essentially biscotti and Vin Santo is a strong, sweet wine. They pair by dipping the cantucci into the vin santo, which was surprisingly good!

Since it was our last day in Italy, we popped into a traditional wine shop called Cantina in Piazza and picked out several bottles of Tuscany and Italian wines to bring home. After a short break, we drove outside the city of Siena to the countryside of Tuscany. There, we went to a restaurant that specializes in Bistecca alla Fiorentina. This massive chunk of steak is seared on high heat briefly and is served shortly after almost raw. You can choose different types of beef, whether you prefer bone in/out and how many KGs you would like. We also ordered their risotto, since we didn’t have the chance to try it in Milan.

Then Guidone speared the poor Marchino on the snow pile. 16 years old those were the days

  3. Question – Europe which was struggling to just eat food till 18th Century, how come it became so wealthy so quickly in just 2 to 300 years.

I loved that there are NO billboards or advertising there. It’s so chill. I was only there a day and I wish I could’ve stayed a week💗

  7. Welll … "scarpetta" is not much under galateo rules, but it is a good sign of the level of goodness of what you ate and also a much appreciate sign of gratitude for the chef and the host.

  8. In italy we generally do not use much spices and sauces on our recipes. We lke the taste of our food to be from the freshness and the skills of the chef to preserve fresh natural taste of simple ingredients. That is also the reason why we do not mix much many different ingredients in one recipe. You will never find a bottle of any sauce on our tables, NEVER aside salt, pepper, olive oil and wine vinegar . If it is canned or bottled, if it has some kind of sauce or spiciness we start thinking it is not from fresh first quality good ingredients and also that the chef wants to cover some mistakes.

  9. I am living in Tuscany for almost 15years at montalcino countryside with my family It's a undiscrible chalm life with nature genuine food (olive oil, wine ) just giving you sense of living

  10. As someone whose two favorite things are food and Renaissance Era history I wanna go to Tuscany so bad🥺I’ve been to Naples, Pompeii, Rome, Milan, Venice, Genoa, and Verona but have never made it to Tuscany

Ekelhaft solche Menschen. Und ja damit meine ich alle Amis.

  17. Missing my fellow Canadian Sabrina, that paired with you made sharp but familiar commentary. Luke bring her back buddy, of your greatest losses and regrets of a life time…

  18. Italy is a wonderland for everything…sea, mountains, arts, everything.
But the food is something impossible to show. You must taste.
From the north to the sicily you can have an amazing trip about taste, really different from region to region.
And the different types of wine…love it!!
I'm italian (but my father came from France) and i love cooking too.
You have to try Umbria. Simply delicious

  19. that isnt a T bone…. i dont see the tender lion there.. and its RAW……… need a few more minutes.

  21. kind of misleading when he says 1,5 kg of meat , with the bone sure but without the bone its more like 700 grams of meat . still a lot but 1,5 kgs it aint .. how the heck can you call yourself a foodie and you are an adult and have never tried risotto ???? weird
