Today our guest is Kyoko Matsuoka, who returns for her second appearance on Kyushu Live. Kyoko is very active in Fukuoka City as a successful architect, the president of a real estate company, and a promoter of design and culture. She’s also the founder of the “One Kyushu” project, which has a 2-week long event at several venues in the city. She’ll guide Emiko and me around some of the highlights.
One Kyushu ミュージアム 2022
「街の時間を文化で楽しく！」福岡の都心・天神で、九州が誇るべき伝統文化を紹介するカルチャーイベント「One Kyushu ミュージアム」。会場の一つ、西鉄グランドホテルには、有田焼や波佐見焼、薩摩切子など九州各地の陶磁器が展示され、ソラリアプラザには、パブリックライブラリーが出現。書籍のセレクトは前期と後期で異なり、音楽やアート、食や建築など地元で活躍する各界の専門家が世界の都市をテーマに選定し、選者によるトークショーも行われる。VIOROには、セレクトされた九州各地の工芸品を展示するOne Kyushuミュージアムショップが期間限定でオープンする。

One Kyushu Museum 2022
One Kyushu Museum held in Tenjin, the heart of Fukuoka, introduces aspects of Kyushu’s traditional culture. One of the venues, Nishitetsu Grand Hotel, will display ceramics from all over Kyushu, including Arita-yaki, Hasami-yaki, and Satsuma Kiriko. At the same time, a public library will appear in Solaria Plaza. The selection of books will be different for the first and second terms and will include talk shows by local experts in music, art, food, and architecture. For a limited time only, the One Kyushu Museum Shop will be open in VIORO, displaying selected handicrafts from various regions of Kyushu.
